Heard some rumblings about this tonight. Not sure if this for an slight tweaking/update or complete retooling. Anyone have any insight?

The one thing that comes to mind is Project 89, the FW DVC. If I remember correctly, it's original design would land right on top of Pioneer Hall. So it would make sense for a overhaul.

But if Pioneer Hall isn't being touched (or this rumor isn't related to possible demo/construction) and this is a retooling then I have no idea. Whatever the plans are, I hope they don't ruin a great show.

Next weekend my niece is planning on looking out Clementine’s Woods for her weeding in 2020 so I’m wondering if that will still be available.

Hope someone can get some info on this. Can't see how a show that's perpetually sold out, longest running of its kind in the nation, isn't that the claim?, would close for anything more than refurbishment.

Yeah, I don't think we need to go into panic mode just yet. This would be a pretty big deal if true, so we need to just wait and see if any other "rumblings" come from those in-the-know.

I genuinely hope that HDDMR does not go away. I remember seeing it in 2001 with my sister, and initially being hesitant to go as I thought it would be corny and dumb (as an 18yo I obviously thought it's wasn't very cool). Oh boy how wrong I was, and oh boy how fun and amazing that show was, not to mention the great comfort food! It stands as an absolute highlight from that trip and I can't wait to visit the show again. That is as long as it sticks around!! Fingers crossed that these rumors are merely based on a refurb or something like that, and that if the show goes down it is only temporary! And while on the subject, I feel like Disney could use 1 or 2 more dinner shows. I feel like it's something that it quintisentially Disney as far as the types of experiences that they offer and what makes a WDW vacation special. Does anyone have any ideas of what could make a cool new dinner theater experience at WDW? Or are there even old ideas that never came to fruition that can be discussed? Would love to hear what people think.

Not sure I would say that it is "perpetually sold out." I know I generally go to the show during the "off-season", but I can only think of once in the last 3 or 4 years where I didn't get moved from a Tier 2 table to a Tier 1 table, and my last visit less than half of the tables on the floor were used for my show, with none of the tables directly in front of the stage used (made for some great cornbread jokes, though!). It wouldn't surprised me at all to see shows cut, or even "seasonal operation," even if Pioneer Hall isn't touched for the DVC project.

This is one of the main reasons I love this website. If it weren't for rumors and research, I would have missed out on going on GMR one last time before it closed.

I really hope this is just a temporary closure for an overhaul, but with the way things have been going lately?....

Please keep us posted guys!

If, for some reason, Pioneer Hall needs to be closed during construction of the new DVC resort, I wonder if the show could be temporarily moved to a certain other Western-themed former show location? I would be really surprised if such a popular dinner show that still sells out would be unceremoniously shuttered, but I could see them moving it. Right now, people have to make an extra effort to go over to Fort Wilderness if they want to see the Hoop-Dee-Doo. A move to the Diamond Horseshoe building has the potential for them to have several shows throughout the day, with each one being an additional revenue stream. Modern Disney is allllllll about finding ways to wring more money out of existing attractions and restaurants.

Pure speculation, of course, and I'm sure that someone with better knowledge of the show's logistics than me can fill me in on why that idea wouldn't work. I honestly know very little about the show, other than the basics.

Well that's sad to hear. Though, one would think that if they do build this new resort right next door, that the show would only be attended even more. Of course, that's speculative and a long way off.

I wouldn't say the show sells out regularly. Rumors i've heard indicate early Spring 2019 as the closing time frame.

That is sad. I'm sure the show is still profitable, so hopefully this is related to Project 89 and that it will return at some point in the future.

Anecdotally every time we stay at the Wilderness Lodge, it feels like armies of people are headed to HDDR.

If they need this land for Project 89, any chance the show could be moved over to Diamond Horseshoe? It seems silly as Disney would be getting rid of an extra charge, but I'm guessing DVC membership > yearly revenue from the show. Or, it could also just be worked into the new DVC property under a new venue.

I just don't see Disney fully getting rid of it with it's success.

I totally dig this idea of moving HDDMR to Diamond Horseshoe, if it does indeed need to be moved somewhere. Are there any other rumors about maybe new or once planned dinner shows for WDW. Even things that were planned but never came to pass. I think that's an interesting topic and would love to hear if there are stories about dinner shows that might have been, or are maybe even in the works :)
