Honeymoon Trip Report! July 7-10!

Hi everyone! Just got back from my honeymoon, and I wanted to post a trip report because it was the best time of my life! We only spent 3 days in WDW, and then continued onto the Bahamas. If I could have changed it though, I would've spent more time at Disney. We had no idea how extra magical it would be! So here's my trip report ~ enjoy :)

Monday July 7th
-
We were picked up by the Magical Express at the airport, my first experience with it. I thought it was great! There was no wait, and our hotel was the first one stopped at. When we checked into the Polynesian, our room was already ready which was so nice. We were in the Rapa Nui building.

When we went into our room, there was a gift waiting for me that my husband had had delivered. It was a glass slipper, and a tiara on a pillow made of carnations! I was so surprised and excited! He found it at disneyflorist.com

After that, we went for a walk around the resort & had lunch at Captain Cook's. We got two lei's, and found a photopass photographer to take our picture. That was fun, because I didn't know they were around the resorts. We had planned on getting tons of photopass pictures on this trip.

For dinner, we had reservations at Kona Cafe, which I was very excited about because I'd never eaten there. We went to the Ohana bar first, and I got the drink in the big pineapple that I'd seen pictures of posted here before. It was delicious. Dinner at Kona was great, and was made even better when the waitress brought me a blinking tinkerbell for my drink! I know they're normally for kids, but she'd found out that I love Tink. So that was a little bit of pixie dust for me. :)

For dessert, our waitress brought us a special complimentary dessert, made for honeymooners! We were so surprised and happy. It's these little things that make us love Disney.

I forgot to mention that we did wear our Just Married buttons to dinner! Following dinner, we were just in time for the Seven Seas Lagoon water show & the Wishes fireworks. This was my favorite part of our entire honeymoon, as I've never stayed on Disney property, and I've never seen Wishes from anywhere besides in the MK. We had the beach practically to ourselves. We laid in a beach chair, and watched the water show & fireworks. It was so romantic, and perfect. It truly was a magical night for us! Just being at the Polynesian, exploring the resort, eating at the restaurants....all of it made for the perfect first day of a honeymoon! Day 2 coming up....

Day 2

July 8th, Tuesday

We had 8:05 reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table for the Princess breakfast. We had a few minutes, so we went to Tinkerbell's Treasures to watch her get woken up by two really cute little twin girls. Then we grabbed fast passes to Peter Pan, and then went to breakfast. We were put first in line to get our picture with Cinderella, and we didn't know why. Turns out they had given us a window seat & decorated our table! They had to get us their first so that they could turn over the table after us. Again, we were so surprised by this!

The food was good - what we expected for a normal breakfast. Meeting all the princesses was really fun, I have never gotten my picture with any of them in the past. I got a magic wand & a wishing star - my husband got a sword, and we collected all the castle confetti from our table.

After breakfast we headed over to Tom Sawyer's Island to paintbrush hunt. We were on the first boat over, and were the first people on the island. We spent over an hour searching, before finding out from the CM that the paintbrushes have almost all gotten stolen, and they're down to 3. She wasn't sure if they'd even been hidden that day. :( She gave us a fastpass to any ride we wanted, but it wasn't quite the same.

After that, my husband insisted we hurry to Cinderella's wishing well. I had no clue why, but when we got there, there was a letter waiting for me! It was "Pixie Dust" mail, with my name on it! I was stunned & confused! Inside was a letter from Tink, sending me on a parkwide scavenger hunt to save her pixie dust from Captain Hook. It was a blast! There were 8 clues. At the very end, there was a treasure chest filled with pixie dust. My husband had set up this scavenger hunt for me with Gifts of a Lifetime I think it was. I don't know all the details - he's keeping it a secret. I do know that several CM's were in on it, and helped make sure clues didn't get stolen. It was beyond amazing and the most fun I've ever had in WDW!

I didn't think anything could compare to the scavenger hunt, but the day kept getting better. We went into Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe at about 12:30. We were buying a honeymoon ornament, and the CM ringing us up asked if I'd like to decorate the Magical Moments tree! I was ecstatic, and I said yes! They put my name on the tree for the day, gave me a free ornament, and gave me my first Magic Moments Certificate! I have always wanted one, and I know how rare they are. It was such a special thing for me!

The park was getting packed so we decided to take a break, and then head into Epcot later on. As soon as we went in, we headed to Japan to see Miyuki's candy making. I had never seen her before, but had heard great things. We got there a little early, but by the time she started, the area was jammed with people. I was so happy to be chosen, as I was not expecting to be. I was the last person chosen, and I picked an elephant. I was shocked & amazed by her work! I can't eat the little guy - I decided to keep him!

After that, it started to rain! We ran over to Spaceship Earth and I have to say that I enjoyed the refurbishments! I loved the interactive screen that takes your picture and superimposes them into the ride. We liked choosing our own ending. I think it was all needed, and that they kept a lot of the traditional stuff still as part of the ride. We got a kick out of it. We tried to wait the rain out but it got worse & worse, so we headed back to Poly.

That's it for day 2, I know it's a long one! The last thing I have to say is that I'm very impressed with the hotel, because this was waiting under our door at the end of the night....it was the perfect ending to a perfect day...

Day 3

July 9th, Wednesday

Another early day! We had a 9:00 Keys to the Kingdom Tour reservation. There were no EMH's today, so the park didn't open until 9:00. We got in at 8:30 with our reservations. I have to say that it was awesome to see the park empty, one of the coolest things I've seen in WDW. We just walked up and down mainstreet taking pictures.

ry%3D320

The Keys tour was AMAZING!!!!!! I thought there was nothing new I could learn about Disney but I was wrong. Our tour guide was Matthew, and he was hysterical. He tolerated a couple people in our group who were extremely difficult to deal with - I'll just leave it at that. He knew so much about WDW, and was just great to have as a guide. I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job.

We got to see the utilidors and the parade float storage area. He told us all about the forced perspective of the park, and how it's set up to be like a movie. He also took us on The Jungle Cruise & The Haunted Mansion equipped with all kinds of little secrets & things to look for. Both showed us a whole new view of both rides. I could write tons on just this tour alone - but I'll just say that I recommend it to everyone! We both really loved it, and it exceeded our expectations!

After the keys tour, we went to Hollywood Studios to try to get on Toy Story Mania. This was just utter mayhem at it's best. We couldn't get anywhere near the Pixar area, so we just walked around the park instead. We got our picture with Mater & Lightning McQueen which was cool, and we got the special photopass with Stitch breaking out of the ground which I loved! (I adore Stitch!). We decided to come back during EMH's and try Toy Story Mania again.

ry%3D320

We had dinner reservations at Ohana, so we went there after Hollywood Studios. It was more food than I've ever been given in my life. It was so good, and we were so stuffed! It was a fun environment with all the Hawaiian dancing & entertainment, we really liked it. I don't have a big appetite though, so I preferred Kona Cafe. I would love the try the Ohana breakfast someday though.

So back to Hollywood Studios. Extra Magic Hours were funny - Pixar Place was PACKED with people, and the rest of the park was totally empty. We did a hidden mickey hunt, and were virtually alone. Toy Story Mania broke down for the majority of EMH's which was tough because nobody would get out of line, and people kept getting in it. Everyone rewaited in line for the fastpasses to open back up, and then they couldn't use them because the ride was broken. There was a lot of fighting & lots of angry people.

ry%3D320

The ride reopened very late - lots of people had left. We still waited an hour and a half. Got on after midnight - thought it was awesome. I don't believe any ride is worth waiting that long for, but it was one of the best rides in WDW. I wish we could've gone on it more than once. We dragged ourselves back to our rooms, and were a little sad that the Disney part of our honeymoon was over already. We headed to Atlantis in the Bahamas for a week after this, and that was incredible too. I still preferred being at Disney though. :)

I have a honeymoon photo album, if you want to see more pictures. If you have any questions, PM me! I'd love to elaborate on anything Disney!

Great Trip Report. It makes me want to have my honeymoon at WDW(I've been married for 3 years so i suppose thats out of the question!). Disney really seemed to go all out to make it very special, as did your husband. Really enjoyed reading this and seeing your pics. And congratulations on your wedding:)

You can always have an anniversary there! I bet Disney makes them just as special for you! My husband knows how much of a dork I am - so he does go out of his way to do things in Disney that normally are for children. :p

Wow, what a great honeymoon! It sounded so special - what a great start to a marriage! Thanks for sharing! Congratulations!

My husband and I never really took a honeymoon - we got married young and a honeymoon wasn't in the budget at that time. Do you think we can still have a honeymoon 8 years later with two kids!?!:animwink:

Congratulations on your wedding, and best wishes in your life together.

Thanks for sharing your brief, but very full honeymoon visit to the World. Matthew sure sets the bar high for the rest of us guys (and himself). I'm sure he could set up a very nice side-job arranging these types of plans for other guys!
