Yeah, I can't tell you how many time I have been in a park one day and the flowers are all yellow and the next day they are all ripped out and now red. Look at all the additions for the F&G festival. I wonder what it costs to produce some of those displays.

Now out of that $67,000 could any be for the removal and replacement of the square trees?

I'm sure the number of people who work on this while the park is closed is really expensive... dunno how they do somethings in the 4-7 hours they have at night!

The permit also states that it includes installation and fabrication of the displays so you are also looking at fees from various other sources such as landscape architects, engineers, iron workers, machinists, carpenters etc many of which will be working third shift hours which typically pay more. Add all of that on top of the small army of people needed to pull this off in one night and you will get one hefty landscaping bill.

Isn't the landscaping done internally??

The fact that they do the landscaping changes overnight is pretty smart and I'm sure the workers prefer it. Can you imagine doing all that in the midday sun with the Florida heat and humidity? When I was growing up in Central Florida we did all our yard work early or late but never during the day. In the summertime, my siblings and I were not allowed to go outside from like 11:00 to 4:00 because my step-dad was afraid we'd fall over with heat exhaustion. LOL!

This company is actually a sign developer if you read the commencement. It sounds more like concrete work more then plants. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another form for removal of the Leave a Legacy tombstones. Disney World does have an internal landscaping but i know from working with Valleycrest they did almost all the install and construction work on the beds for AK. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.

P.S.
Its not that much money for some construction work around the beds. Sounds like they are really going to impress us for the 25th.

Problem with doing it at night is that it is the prime time for watering.

 I know what you mean. I remember the first time I ever went to WDW. Was @ MK one day, came back the next morning & the Mickey flower bed in front of the Train Station was re-done in different flowers. I was impressed.

i can't imagine how much it takes to run WDW

imagine reconciling their bank accounts each month! :dazzle:

as a former cm i can say wdw has soooooooooooooooooooo many different bank accounts with sun trust, one for payroll, refunds from merchandise mail order, over charges/ refunds on resort stays.... i would guess they have close to if not over 100 diff accounts & they do a great job at keeping track of who does what.

I wonder if this entrance work could mean the return of the prism fountain infront of SSE. Someone mentioned concrete/sign installation. What could we really expect from this?

I agree, I read the doc and it says "planters", not "plantings". Plantings would indicate flowers; planters, the containers to put them in.

BTW, you'd be amazed what flowers cost! I plant some in six small pots on my front steps, and another five or six (ok, maybe eight) on my deck, and about 150 feet of impatiens bordering a flowerbed (just like they do at WDW), and it costs me over $250. I think that's a lot for flowers that are going to die at the end of the summer, but I still do it.

We can only hope. :D
