I was just lookin' through some photos online, and realized that I've never eaten there. Is it good? I was just curious...

We've eaten there a few times and have always enjoyed it! Good food-pretty general buffet with many options and nice environment. They have or had a great seafood macaroni dish :slurp:

We had Thanksgiving Dinner there back in 2007 and we all HATED it...will not got back any time soon. Now i have to add that i have no idea if the meal we had for Thanksgiving was the same (in part or all) as they would serve on a non holiday night.

We've eaten there twice. The first time we went to the Playhouse Disney breakfast which was okay. The food was about what you would expect. We had a bit of a hiccup with JoJo who was the main character we were there to see. But I doubt that's typical. I'd recommend it to anyone with kids who are fans of Playhouse Disney.

The second time, we went for dinner with no characters. My expectations were low, but the food exceeded my expectations. I don't want to oversell it. I was expecting pretty mediocre buffet food and most of it was. But a few dishes pleasantly surprised me. I went back for seconds on the seafood pasta. And I had a key lime tart that was delish!

My usual recommendation for ts at DHS is the 50's PTC. But H&V is worth a try as well.

My family and I ate there back when they had Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale at the character breakfast and it was decent. Same as any other character breakfast in Disney. I also would recommend 50's Prime Time over Hollywood and Vine!!

Heading for the great escape.

We ate there round about that period too. The place had been over busy, the staff and servers looked over run and tired. The place I felt was a little grubby. Food was nothing better than OK, which was a big disappointment as I felt it used to be the better of the DHS eateries.

We liked their breakfast. Pretty standard, but since it has a bad reputation, empty - which I LOVE. I hate mobbed buffets.

Went a few weeks ago. Good food, huge selection, but we didn't know Playhouse Disney was there for lunch. Annoying.

Thanks guys, for all of the replies! To be honest, I just don't remember the last buffet I ate at in the parks/resorts. I can't imagine what'd it'd be like. Is the caffatria down in the Land comparable as far as process? I mean, is (Hollywood & Vine) it an ACTUAL buffet? Or do you go get your food, put it on a tray, and pay for it?

It's an actual buffet. It's all you care to/can eat. There are several tables to pick from. There's even a little area for kids (chicken nuggets, barbeque meatballs, fries, etc) that they can reach on their own. And of course there's a dessert table with those yummy key lime tarts I mentioned.

Sunshine Seasons is not a buffet at all but a cafeteria like you mentioned.

That's the one thing about buffets I hate. I once saw an unsupervised kid (I know - hard to believe ) at the soft-serve ice cream machine at Crystal Palace swiping the what's left on the nozzle with their finger, licking their finger, swiping, licking...well...you get the point. :hurl:

Not old, just vintage.
I love H&V...but only for dinner. I am SO not into the Playhouse Disney scene. Plus, the food isn't as good. The dinner menu is great. There's a good variety of things to choose from. I love the mashed potatoes and chicken breast with asiago and ranch (I think) dressing. There is also a great pork loin that is almost always available. I love the chocolate mousse and apple crisp with vanilla sauce on the dessert buffet too. The place can get a little loud but I've always had great servers who are attentive with drinks and clearing plates. I always feel that I get my money's worth too. Far better than Mama Melrose or Sci Fi in my opinion.

We've only been to H&V for breakfast. It was a typical buffet, but I enjoyed having cold cereal on the buffet there & I don't recall seeing it on any other breakfast buffets that week. It was the least crowded restuarant we were in & very laid back. That probably adds to the reason that it's my second favorite breakfast, only behind O'hana.

You had me concerned for a minute.

The one time we had dinner at H&W, my then-4-year-old was fascinated by the buffet line. Especially the ice cream machine. At one point, she decided she had to make her own sundae without any help. In fact, she wanted to go all by herself.

Reluctantly, I watched from a distance. Little did she know, but she never left my sight. A cast member saw her and ended up helping her build her sundae anyway. Somehow, that was more acceptable than help from dad, I guess.

(She most certainly didn't lick anything, I assure you!)

She was very proud of her creation which had every single topping on the table. But she wasn't very interested in eating it. So, that was my job. Which was a shame because I really would have liked to go back for some of the more unique offerings rather than soft serve with everything. But I hate to see food go to waste even at a buffet.

Handy Many and Special Agent Oso have replaced JoJo and Goliath. The Einsteins are still there.
