Hollywood Studios Backlot Tour is closed... for refurbishment

Agreed. I love that tour.
Even better is the all day VIP tour at Warner Bros. Expensive, but well worth it for a movie/tv fan.
The tour at the Studios was never going to work unless they were able to lure enough production to Florida.

True, but they could at least PRETEND that the backlot tour has something, anything going on. How hard would it be to set up a couple of empty "soundstages" and set up sets or scenes from recently completed movies? I mean, anything. Last time i rode it was in 05 and it angered me that they actually tried to pass this off to people as some form of......entertainment. Of course I was probably the only one who didn't cheer and whoop when the "truck" "exploded"

I'd rather have them put us on the tram and do a circle trip tour of the parking lot.

I take it that passes as stinky self indulgent post modern irony, as per norm.

All posts are Self Indulgent. It makes our egos feel better to feel CONSTANTLY right about everything in a website full of loonies.

Likely.
Which indicates how much sense it would make to drop the "Studios" from the park's name and just call it Disney's Hollywood.

That'd be silly. It'd be like dropping Kingdom or Community. So it's just "The Magic", "EPOT", "Disney's Hollywood", and "Disney's Animal".

Studios is just a framework for the park, just like a Kingdom...

You Don't need to shoot Toothpaste Ads for it to be a Studio. It's theme IS a Studio. Like some kind of PARK that has a THEME.

Quite hard seeing as how they have no available soundstages. Or at least they won't pretty soon.

The Tour is in it's last few years of operation. Let's not be too hard on it as it fades into history.:D

I see mine more as art, but then that could be ego.

Is that the Scottish usage of stoned? Cause that two posts quoting me that highlight drinking, I must improve my PR, in a post modern non sexist way.

Ohhh...we do have fun here.

^This. I don't get the attitude about it, it's still doing great things for the park Theme and Capacity wise. Personally it's still entertaining. I think the Water Tank and first Pre-Show need to be changed to special effects and put indoors. There's a ton of ways to make it shine again. Disney just won't do them because they'd rather demo everything.

WDW has only two options for everything they do: Let it sit and rot...Or tear it to the ground. There is no middle option.

The refurb is a closing that will last for a month, until they need to open it for the capacity. They did the same thing last year. I don't see the problem with turning the lights off when it's not busy, and opening it up when there's enough people around who don't know it's not worth riding. It's better than going lights out for 3 years while we wait for the next project to get the green light.

True. It eats people, and guests still like it overall.
Honestly, I haven't been on it in a few years. I still remember the old Tour too well, so this one always falls flat with me.
I think they should take the "Backlot" out of the name since there isn't a backlot there anymore, which is a shame. Just call it the Studio Tour.
I can understand the idea of replacing it, though. An expanded Pixar Place will be a big boost for the park.

Please tell me you're joking.
No,can't say that I am.

Love the park. Its fantastic.

Its just not built for an attraction park. They built it to have a small attraction area, and the rest to be a studio. As they try to add attractions, its just not working.

I'd love for them to keep it,but its just not working as it is.

Easy, now....let's not get carried away.
The park is fine, and is poised to get much better in the next few years.

Yea...the hate that's put on DHS is astounding, considering it's probably tied with Epcot for best park on property.

I really disagree. Out of all 4 I'd say it needs the least amount of work.

It's only black eye is BLT. Aesthetics and attractions wise, it's great.
Hollywood,Sunset,Pixar Place,Echo Lake are all good. SoA needs a little bit of work. The whole backlot area desparately needs help.

SoA could use another attraction. I'd love to see a Muppets ride go in there, and am praying the new movie is a success so it's thought about.

And yea, the Backlot, but it'll get fixed in due time.
