Hollywood Studios Backlot Tour is closed... for refurbishment

SoA and BLT need help. The latter needs to be totally demolished so something more interesting can take all that land that is currently being used for absolutely nothing interesting.

When they eventually demo the Tour, I hope some absent minded demolitions expert accidentally sets charges all around LMA too. That footprint could be put to better use as well.

I would like to see both gone as well. It is almost as if LMA takes up an even bigger footprint than BLT does.

Not to date myself, but the last time I rode the backlot tour I was a kid and one of the highlights was showing the studio where George Burns just shot an interview. :lookaroun

I have a feeling the backlot tour will be the eventual spot of a modified version of Carsland.

Based on aerial photos, BLT takes up a little more space just because the tram travels around a bit, but LMA is close. Which seems rediculous for an attraction that has what, 3 shows a day? Either way imagine what they could do with all that land and propper funding.

Lights, Motors, Action isn't the major addition The Studios had hoped for, but I don't think it's the biggest problem at The Studios right now. I'm all for addressing one problem at a time, and the amount of things that can be done with the Backlot tour space are quite significant.

I agree with addressing one problem at a time, and that would be BLT, at this point it is a waste of space. At least with LMA you get a decent show (if you havent seen it already). Its just too bad that so much money was poured into LMA and it takes up so much land and there are only a few shows a day. I do like the fact that it really fits the theme of the park very well though. If BLT was in its former state before LMA I would have a problem, but as it is, bring on the wrecking ball and bulldozers.

I agree. BLT should go first.

The Great Movie Ride should undergo a major refurbishment before they consider a replacement to Lights, Motors Action. Lights, Motors, Action is 3rd on my list behind Backlot Tour and The Great Movie Ride.

LMA would be cool if it were rethemed into a James Bond pavillion.

I'm pretty sure the original LMA was supposed to be themed to 007, but the people who license out the rights were nonnegotiable and a pain in the to deal with. Personally there's not that much you can do with the Bond idea that isn't already being done at LMA.

That's what I have heard, too, but I did not know if it was true. Do you know, for a fact, Servo?

Northwest Corner

I tried doing a search on this and came up empty. Is there any reason why the northwest corner of DHS hasn't been used for anything yet? I think they could pretty easily extend the park passed the RnRC plaza over there and expand it into something, right? Or is there something over there that stops this from happening?

I kind of know it as a fact, but it's been so long I won't put any money on it, though it's most likely true.

It IS choreographed by the famed Stunt Choreographer of the original James Bond films. That's a fact. The same man who also was the first Stunt Driver to pioneer driving on two wheels, such as in LMA.

LMA might actually be worth the space if it were a Bond attraction. A shame really.

Makes sense, then.
