Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

Not sure why Eisner couldn't have pulled that off. He did buy ABC/ESPN (ESPN may still be the best purchase Disney has ever made even over Marvel etc.), and he already had deals with Pixar and Lucasfilm.

The conditions were different for both…

What was exactly the same was for both was they had free hand to build and innovate in Disney’s domestic parks.

Results vary
No secret that Jobs thought of Eisner different than of Iger. Enter Iger who gets the credit in partnering w Jobs on the megadeal. When Jobs passed away, Iger was crushed by his friend's passing.

Totally made that up, dude

He paid Jobs $6,000,000,000 for Pixar and made him the largest Disney shareholder at the time.

It’s not your “friend” if you buy them off that easily.

Except adding Frozen to Epcot and Star Wars to DHS has not resulted in those parks becoming as popular as MK, a park which lacks more recent IP including anything to do with Marvel or Star Wars.

MK's appeal and status goes far beyond what IP is in the park.
Of course it wouldn't. You will need a lot more than 1 or 2 attractions to start comparing things to the magic kingdom. Just based on prices, magic kingdom is the only park that you can really justify the price in my opinion. A re-skined attraction would never make me skip a day at MK. In order for any of the other parks to compete with magic kingdom. They would all need at least 5 more attractions each. And guess what Disney isn't going to do.

Im surprised people think the Epic Universe is really going to move the needle that much?

They're 2 existing parks could do with fleshing out a lot more first
Their two existing parks have limited space to grow.

It's probably the reason we've seen way faster evolutions in attractions/areas of both parks in their combined relatively short lives as compared to Disney over its much longer history where in the (now distant) past, Disney would keep an old attraction (or close it and leave it there closed) while breaking ground somewhere else on a new one.

I imagine if they'd had the space, we'd still have a Jaws-like ride where Jaws was and a Diagon Alley, for instance.

*but of course, not always

People seem to forget that Disney was even charging more for the MK than the other three for a while there because what you're saying is the worst kept secret on property.

Nice comedy act attempt. Jobs and Iger did have good business relations, something Eisner could only dream of but could not pull off.
That doesn’t mean “close friends”

The Iger love can end now…he’s gone. And whatever good moves he made…the bad ones are still bad.
Like the completely mismanaged parks in Orlando that can’t handle a crowd or staff properly…but you still dream
About at night.

How’s DIS doing in the afterhours?

That’s not the reason…because SEC rules would have required that Iger hold a press conference and tell everyone about it. That’s the LAW…right, LILO?

Once TRON opens MK will basically have as many E-tickets as DHS has rides total.

The other parks are way behind.

Like a game of musical chairs the last CEO will get the blame for the demise without regard for those that came before. Presiding over a coal mine would be a fair comparison I think.
You mean Disney is going to drain the pension fund and then file chapter 11 at 10:00 pm on a Sunday night? 🤔
