Well this is certainly something...

Disney is in uncharted waters. From 1984 to 2020, the company had only two CEOs: Michael Eisner from 1984 to 2005 and Bob Iger from 2005 to 2020. Now Bob Chapek, with two years in the job, is facing a staff revolt and insiders are speculating about his longevity in the job and who might succeed him (entertainment chief Peter Rice and ex-CFO Tom Staggs would seem to be favorites). His contract is up in 11 months.
Tom Staggs is back???

Ouch. That hit piece hits hard. (withholding Will Smith joke... ;) )

"A cartoon hanging in the production offices of The Simpsons seems to suggest an opinion: It has Chapek in the “In Memoriam” section of the Oscars show."

Well this article did offer something that others lately have not: a hint toward de-escalation within the company:
There are those within Disney who hope Chapek has already learned from his mistakes and will learn more from his listening tour, that he can win some trust and move forward. But one industry veteran says it won’t be easy. “Even if he sits there and smiles politely and listens, people are not going to buy into it at this point,” he says. “He’s not going to win hearts and minds.”
Chapek obviously blundered by not supporting the CMs in this instance, but if he sincerely has learned his mistake and makes this a priority, they will certainly support him.

No! That's the whole problem!

Everyone on the outside is talking about the CMs like they're some kind of monolith. By supporting that particular group of CMs, he's alienated an entirely different group of CMs. When you're accused of not standing by your progressive CMs, the proper response isn't to throw your conservative CMs under the bus, which is exactly what he's done.

Bob will say anything and admit nothing. He is only interested in cash, money, dollars (for that matter any currency) he's like a Disney version of Goldfinger.

I think it's hilarious that people who hate where the company is headed right now have any interest in bringing back somebody who had a hand on the steering wheel when the turn was made. We have no reason to believe he'd screw us any less than Chapek. The difference here is in experience only as far as I can tell.

Disney is a progressive company. Has been for some time. Disney isn't about to throw away years of diversity and inclusion training and programs, resource groups, community spending and support, in order to appease a group of CMs.

This isn't about picking a side politically as much as it is about Disney being consistent to who they are.
