And apparently Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs have started a media company with Blackstone money?

I have no idea if it's Iger (I wouldn't think so for various reasons), but someone is definitely trying to force Chapek out/make him a scapegoat. We wouldn't have all these stories coming out in the media otherwise.

They're right that allowing the ScarJo situation to devolve into a public lawsuit was a pretty big blunder, though, if only from a PR standpoint and how it could affect relationships with talent agencies/other stars.

Yes, that is my big takeaway from this. Someone is feeding negative stories about Chapek in which Iger looks good to someone for some reason.

I will say that this is bringing me back to the Eisner days when he/Disney always seemed to be engaged in some sort of public fight with someone. If this happened during the Iger days, he was a lot better at keeping a lid on things.

I just hope hope this eventually leads to Chapek leaving/getting kicked out. It seems clearly that’s the intention behind these articles at the least, to try and force him out.

If there is an exit strategy for Bob C, he will not leave empty handed.

Iger hated him from day one because he and Joe Rohde were the last powerful creatives left in the company. Me Too was an excuse to get rid of him, Yet people with far worse Yet James Gunn who did far worse was fired and then brought back because Iger liked him.
Kevin Feige is more powerful than either of them.

Black Widow is a financial flop in any case. But of course Iger has to find a scapegoat.

BOTH Bobs can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
there is no scapegoat. Whomever decided Disney contacts did not have to be honored is a guilty pig. Thats it. He knows who he is. I hope Scarlett J. gets double the suing price. This makes Disney look like liars. Every company on the planet should have enough honor to honor their contact agreements.

Lassiter did have his own demons to deal with. There was a story that he even needed an assistant to follow him around to ensure he was not behaving badly.

Like any hardcore alcoholic they all have severe behavior issues, My stepmother was one she was anything but a happy drunk when she got drunk she would smack people around. It was so bad that authorities transferred custody of us kids to grandparents. So by no means am I excusing Lasseter's behavior, But I find Disney's just make it go away strategy equally reprehensible.

This is what happens to organizations when they get too large, They no longer feel accountable to anyone but themselves this is true for business as well as government. The bigger problem becomes who holds them accountable for their actions.
