Holidays at the Magic Kingdom 2015

I'm well aware of what Disneyland does for the holidays. And I wish they would bring back the train display from the studios. But my question is really specific to Epcot. Everyone on here always complains about Epcots decor being reduced. Other than the lights of winter I don't know of anything that has been removed from the park. I admit that I didn't visit the park during the holidays in the 80's, but at least for the past 20+ years I've seen largely the same things decorated each year with the only reduction being LOW. Id love to see pics of the missing decor but for now I feel like this is just a case of people remembering things being far better than they ever really were.

Google Epcot Christmas Decorations and select images. You will find other examples aside from the Lights of winter that are no longer present.

I have. And every single picture that comes up of Epcot is either lights of winter or something that still exists or is still decorated.

The Peace Dove and the white balls were not displayed last year. I don't recall seeing the tea kettle and cups. A few others.

The peace dove and snowflakes were part of the lights of winter display and disappeared with them. The tea kettle was displayed last year. And is actually a relatively recent addition.

I disagree. They remained after the lights of winter. They were near but seperate as they did not change colors, or dance to the music like the lights of winter did. Glad the tea kettle is still there. Thanks for that photo.

Except they didn't remain after the lights of winter. 2008 was the last year for the lights of winter. The first picture on this link shows the area in 2009.

There are some things that should be left alone. I watched the show and its terrible. This is disney world not frozen world I want to see cinderella, fairy god mother, mickey and friends. Tragedy at its best!
I thought the show was OK. You know Frozen, Cinderella, and Mickey are all Disney properties, correct?

@Disone is correct. EPCOT is very minimalist right now. I was in EPCOT over the holidays every year from 1982-1997 and quite a few times post 97. There used to be a lot more decorations around the FW pavilions. I might concur that WS hasn't changed that much, but you can't go with a Martha Stewartish less is more tasteful display if you want me to pay an amount of money that corresponds to a financial mugging to wander around a theme park on a day where crowd levels are at a point that I can't do many other things besides gawk at decorations. It used to be over the top enough that the gawking was entertainment enough. And yes, regardless of anything else, the withdrawal of Lights of Winter alone was enough to make EPCOT feel empty and lame.

Again everyone keeps saying there used to be more decorations in Future World.. But nobody has yet pointed to any specific examples. I have not once seen pictures of these so called future world decorations that no longer exist. I would love to.

He just mentioned one in the post you quoted, Lights of Winter which was a rather large example...

There's also these (which I never saw so they may have been something added after 1997 when I stopped visiting for over a decade)-

I said other than those items. Obviously the lights of winter are a huge loss. I miss them. But everyone acts like Future World and World Showcase used to have so much more decor. And besides the Lights of Winter, that doesn't seem to be true.

They could take out the dragon float during the holidays. The garlands over mainstreet made the atmosphere.
It would be more than just the dragon float. I'm pretty sure you'd have to cut the dragon, Peter Pan, tangled, and the final two floats. My vote would be for having FOF go dark for the season and run a daily Christmas parade in its place.

Multiple floats are taller than the garland was, the hot air ballon float, Peter Pan, the Dragon, and probably a few others. I'm sorry but I don't mind them redesigning decorations that are up two months of the year so that they can have a much more elaborate and spectacular parade that runs the full year.

Ok Peter, interesting picture that is inconsistent with my experiences..... But you are convinced there have been no cut backs in holiday decor at Epcot aside from lights of Winter. You are clearly in the minority there, and the point really is that Epcot is very lack luster in its holiday decor. It is minimalist at best. A few garlands, landscaping using poinsettias and smattering of trees is just not cutting it.
