No, no additional cuts to pyro will be made.

If Disney really wanted to save more money, they could have taken out other (more expensive) parts of the show, not this one which used minimal (yet beautiful) pyro.

It's all about saving money and, frankly, considering that MVMCP is just an excuse to double-charge guests who want holiday entertainment that used to be FREE FOR ALL GUESTS, I find it disgusting.

I hope people get smart and stay away from these 'special' hard ticket events.

Disney can't get away with charging extra for Christmas anywhere but Orlando where the tourists and fans will buy anything the Mouse sells.

Bah humbug!

While it's still busy here.. word is, this is only going to get worse.
Expect to see yet more cuts and yes even layoff's are now being talked about.

All this, while there is a hireing freeze, cast members working 6 and 7 days a week and plenty of people still visiting the parks. Kinda odd.

And in this economy, isn't saving money a responsible approach? I want as much for my entertainment dollar as much as the next guy, but I would rather these small efforts to save money than wholesale layoffs, full closing of attractions and worse? More major companies and too many small companies are going to disappear in 2009, I applaud Disney for taking prudent steps to stay viable.

Will the average Park Guest notice it is shorter? Probably not. Its just a sign of the times. It seems a lot of industries are cutting corners.

I go more often than the "average Joe" that comes to Disney for a 1 time experience or maybe even every 4 or 5 years and I still thought the show was awesome when I watched the video. After a year of no holiday fireworks at Disney I would not even have noticed what was missing and really don't even know or remember the parts everyone is saying is missing so I think everyone but the Disney regulars will be fine with the show and think it is awesome.

Saving money is certainly prudent.

But not on a 'special' event where people are paying an extra $55-60 a head to gain admission ON TOP OF the regular admission.

That's just not right. It would be better to offer the party 3-4 less nights if they truly need that savings so badly.

I talked with one of the WDW pyro guys at work this weekend, and asked him about the shortened shows. He said the elimination of a segment from the Halloween and Christmas shows was due to a shortage of fireworks from China. When I got home, I googled 'china fireworks shortage' (try it please) and found out that, due to the Olympics in Beijing and an explosion that destroyed 20 warehouses there is a worldwide shortage. While it does indeed save money, it was not the driving reason. During my chat, the pyro guy said it was easier to redline a whole segment, which is the music and accompanied fireworks timed for launch, than to remove a few from each segment to maintain the length, as then all those segments need reprogramming. As soon as the availability of fireworks reaches normal levels, these segments can be reinserted. Don't expect that this season, though.

I LOVE the Christmas and Halloween Parties, but yes, i totally agree with you, its getting out of hand.

We tend to go for the Parades and Fireworks more than anything, but this year with they cutback in fireworks (whatever the reason) and the change for the Christmas Parade, i will not be rushing back to MVMXP this year, and will most likely skip MNSSHP for a while as i was just bored this year. Some of the Cast were looking at me like I was odd for being dressed up this year, which left a bitter taste with me.

Anyway I too agree that the Parties have grown into a whole other monster, however sadly they make FAR TOO MUCH money for the resort so sadly looks like they shall be staying for a while at least.

Personally i will not be going to the parties for the next few years now, as the cost out weighs the product IMHO.

^ That's a good reason for Hallowishes, Holiday Wishes and ROE over the last few months. However, what about Music, Magic & Mayhem at the P&P Parties in early 2008?

Does anyone have a audio recording of Holiday Wishes. I cannot find it anywhere, I would be very thankful for some help.

The preceding holds true for RoE only. Which is why the show is currently heavily modified. A RoE pyro tech confirmed that.

A MK pyro tech told me that the MK show cuts were due to $$. I totally believe it for HalloWishes because a lot of 1.4g product was taken out of the show, reducing costs.
Only six 1.4g pieces were removed from Holiday Wishes, with the rest being larger shells. They could have taken out other parts of the show which would have saved them more money. This leads me to believe that the show was modified slightly in order to 'flow' better, saving some money in the process. I heard one of the show designers was present during the first MVMCP to watch the show and maybe tweak it a little bit more.
