I did WDW at NYE as both a CM and a Guest many times, both experiences were tons of fun and I'm glad I checked it off my bucket list but I don't anticipate ever doing it again; unless by some miracle we're able to snag a DVC room at one of the Epcot resorts lol! Have fun everyone in town, it's a special vibe!!
I’m staying at boardwalk so that makes Epcot tonight easy. The reason I come here for NYE is because New York is just to cold for my tastes.

It is absolutely fine to come this time of year. You just have to be doing it for the experience not getting on 342 rides a day.

The people who are here for the first time are currently living a nightmare though. I try to help them out when I run into them, but honestly they will probably never come back.

. 2.5 hours for Slinky Dog Dash? Almost 2 hours for Smuggler's Run? If I'd never been there before and waited that long for those attractions... disappointment wouldn't be nearly a strong enough word.

Indeed! Those wait times relative to the payouts are poor investments.

Also, pretty much nobody should be disappointed *after* waiting 2.5 hours of waiting for Slinky. The disappointment should come before approaching the attraction.

The most interesting observation of the day is how they are actively discouraging people from springs today

Signs everywhere saying “no fireworks here”…11:30 closing time…lots of OCPD Blue all over the place

…there was a time when busy days were encouraged/rewarded with more hours and opportunities to sell stuff…for the stockholders

I truly don’t know how you guys live up north this time of year. It makes the unbearable southern summers worth it 😂
Many of us "northerners" had the courage to admit to that and moved toward a more hospitable area south of there. Not all the way south, just enough to have warm summers and mild winters (even with an occasional day of snow). Far better than 6 months of it. Last week, however, it was warmer up close to the Canadian border then here in the mid-eastern states. So for those that still think Climate change is just a hoax, think about how often that used to happen compared to now.

Can you imagine being one of the people who waited almost two and a half hours in that queue for Slinky Dog Dash?

How much must they be regretting their decisions with Wheezy starts singing for them?

Why would one regret it?? There are no surprises; there are no unknowns.

The entire ride is readily visible to all who are willing to wait. Guests know exactly what they are getting before riding. Would be riders know the track length and high point, train speed, the launch and every hill and corner.

Only the extremely obtuse would not know until after getting off the ride.

How much of that is real though? A four hour FoP line means a completely full queue, over flow queue under the mountain, overflow queue back to FotLK and back to Pandora with the queue extending back to the big plant thing by Tiffins. Do we have any proof the line is that long? Because if only the normal queue is full it’s 2-2.5 hours max.
It technically does not mean that many people. Of something is running at reduced capacity, there can be less people.in lime but still a long wait.

I was visiting my husband's family for Christmas in Nova Scotia and it was 55 there on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, at my parents house in eastern North Carolina it was 18 😂 Anyway, this might be enough thread drift :joyfull:

Anyone there now notice 2023 stuff yet? I'm watching something and they are showing some shirts and stuff for 2023.
I like it! I like the style of animation of the characters.

I haven't liked the merch the last couple years , so I'm hopeful. So far I love the light blue hoodie, the stuffed Mickey and the pillow! Making my list...😂

Since I live in middle North Carolina I can assure you it is quite relevant, at least to me. Same temperature here and that was absolute temperature without windchill.

Coasters are often more about sensation and feel than how they look which is why the lead up to the experience can be deceiving. It's why Busch Gardens' Sand Serpent often gets mistaken for a kiddie coaster and why lots of little kids have had the crap scared out of them on it.

Given that this one is bigger than Goofy's Barnstormer, has a luanch and looks taller, I'd expect people would imagine it would be more thrilling, too.

I'd have to think that nobody in their right mind who has ever done this one before would wait nearly two and a half hours to do it again - not in a park where they could do literally anything else on offer other than that for something close to comparable in time.

Having waited more than an hour to ride it when it was newish to see if it was too intense for my little one, I can tell you exactly how I felt getting off of it.

He never ended up riding it because there are far better coasters aimed at the under 12 at Legoland that seldom have waits that go over 30 minutes.

If that's a real question you're actually asking in earnest that you want a real answer to, I don't think I'm going to be able to give you anything that will satisfy you.

If you haven't been on it and think it might be worth it based on the visibility of the track, "track length and high point, train speed, the launch and every hill and corner", I suspect you too might come off it disappointed after your two and a half hour wait.

If you have been on that ride before and feel that those two minutes are worth a two and a half hour wait, you might as well put me on ignore because there will likely never be a single think I ever post here that you will have any interest in reading.
You could make that argument for almost every ride at any park in the world.

I'm not really trying to make an argument. This person is the one trying to debate me.

Have you ever ridden this ride?

Are you trying to argue that Slinky Dog Dash is worth it at a two and a half hour wait or did you just not find my response satisfying enough?

Either way, this emote is for you:

;)

I get what you are saying. I don't think it's worth that long of a wait but I also don't think any ride at any park is worth waiting longer then an hour.

Maybe Disney will stream fireworks on Disney+ to make it magical for everyone lol

Not really because Slinky is 98 or 99% visible to non riders. Obviously anything indoors and attractions like Jingle Cruise, Splash Mnt, Big Thunder and Everest can not be fully understood without waiting in line and ultimately riding.
