Alright as some of you know from a previous thread I have a speech due soon. I am doing it for a communications class. I am between talking about the themeing, secrets, and whatnot of either the Haunted mansion or the Tower of Terror.

I surveyed the class, most people have been to wdw and the average age is between 20-24. Which ride do you think I should do? and feel free to throw in any fun facts or anything that I could use.
Thanks!

I'd suggest the HM a little bit more as I think there's more to talk about with the history of the attraction itself, secrets, stories etc, although both are great topics that could easily fill up a speech.

Yes
ToT might be a little easier. HM has SO much back story before the thing even opened that it could turn into something REALLY long.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Very tough!!

Blackthidot has a point about HM!! The history to the ride and the differant versions not to mention the Hatbox Ghost story which in itself is HUGE may make it very long....

But..

I still think it will be betteer than TOT as it could be argued that alot is lifted from Twilight Zone

HM is just so class that i would have to go with it

Biased to TOT.

While I'm not a huge HM fan (bad experience as a kid?) I've learned so many interesting things about the ride, even just on these boards. I think John is right, if you pick HM you could make it amazing.. but you'd be leaving stuff out.

And I DO love TOT more than any otehr ride at Disney ;)

Tower of Terror

-May appeal more toward your audience (young adults).
-You can talk about the story itself. (how does the queue and building set up the story...think of all the details in the lobby)
-You can talk about the television episode tie-ins. (how they tied things in and where to find them)
-You can talk about the building architecture. (what actual California buildings were inspiration for the ride building)
-You can talk about the state of the art ride system. (how it is two ride systems: elevator & wire-guided vehicle, plus how the motors are more powerful than Sears Tower, plus how two shafts are two independent rides)
-You can talk about the hidden secrets & overall trivia. (199 feet to avoid aviation blinking light law, 13 diamond rating, etc)
-You can talk about how it has changed over the years with new drop sequences. (multiple drop sequences, addition of effects)
-You can talk about the construction process too. (has to withstand hurricanes, got struck by lightning during construction, how they make it look so old, etc)

While Haunted Mansion is another great pic, ToT seems to have more solid facts and information. Haunted Mansion has many possible stories from over the years. Haunted Mansion also has the ballroom ghost effect...do you really want to spoil that for your audience?

ToT just seems to have more solid substance for your presentation.

It is pretty tough to choose between the two of them, I do not think you could go wrong with either. I personally would choose HM only because I love the ride and theme of it. I was never really a big twilight zone fan so that could be the reasoning behind my bias, but either way you can not lose. I also would love to read your report on ToT after you are done, and good luck with it.
