Isn't it a bit weird we get no sneak peek of what the new show will be? It's only a few months left and not much concept art or information has been revealed. I do hope it debuts before or on the park's 15th anniversary

it's in a quite awkward situation right now
it would be perfect to have the new nighttime spectacular for the 15th anniversary
but the society is still promoting social distancing
parades and shows would gather crowds
there're still uncertainties whether they could still launch the shows on schedule
or any special measures will be taken

speaking of the nighttime spectacular
I hope it will be something brand new
but not another clone from DLP's Disney Illuminations or SHDL's Ignite the Dream
HKDL deserves better !!

The only clones I'd be happy to take are Disneyland Paris' Dreams! and Magic Kingdoms Happily Ever After. I'd also LOVE a castle version of Fantasmic! But that's just daydreaming XD

Any idea what the new nighttime spectacular will be like? Do you think that it would have less pyro than it’s predecessor?

So Disneyland is set to reopen on July 17th, any word on Hong Kong's current state? I would have banked on them reopening long before WDW or Disneyland.

Too soon, IMO.

Those shows work largely because there's a lot of love for the core product AND enough time had passed for generations to feel nostalgic about the park. Disneyland was around for 50 years before Remember; Tokyo, 35 years, which is probably the minimum amount of time you can wait before you do a show like that. Otherwise it could very well come off like shallow self-flattery. Disneyland is a worldwide icon; Tokyo Disneyland is, at the very least, an icon of Japan. By contrast, Hong Kong Disneyland still kind of just exists; a great park, but not really an icon. If it was an icon, they wouldn't be rebuilding their castle.

Hong Kong has only been around for 15 years, and has spent a lot of that time in defensive mode. That initial sour reception is far from dissipated. Attendance has improved, but is still nowhere near the other castle parks. Even if Hong Kong had opened to Tokyo numbers, 15 years would probably be too soon for a show like that.

If everything in modern Disney is linked to IP, HKDL is not yet one that's strong enough to support a fireworks show about itself when there are so many other choices that would probably be better appreciated, or at least more easily marketable, by the park's audience.

Yes
quite surprised more hotels are reopening. is there even enough demand for them to be open? especially when there a no foreign tourists
Many hotels in Hong Kong are releasing "staycation packages" that include meals plus one-night stay to attract more local customers to compensate the loss of foreign tourists
These packages are quite well received as they are economical and can act as a short-term "substitute" for travelling
I think that's why HKDL is reopening the hotels
Haven't heard much about it. I know Rhode worked on it. Have any pics or details to share that put it over or above?
Pics of the hotel can be found here:

You should do something like this with Disneyland Paris.

I highly doubt it due both to social distancing and the construction, I'd be surprised if they actually do run it.
