Hitchhiking Ghosts not functioning properly?

I rode HM twice this past week, once on Thurs afternoon and once Sunday morning, and both times the Hitchhiking Ghosts effect seemed really off. It appeared as if the lighting on the mirrors was too bright. I could barely see the reflection of myself or the buggies, all I saw was somewhat washed-out looking ghosts floating in front of me. I remember this effect being much better on my last visit.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I just watched a video on YouTube, to refresh my memory, and if I had to take a guess I'd say the ghosts are on a complete B-Mode. The ones on my ride through did not sit in the buggies, nor did they do any of the standard interactions, such as switching heads. They just sort of floated there stationary.

I also was there this past week and rode it three different times. The first time, the screen was completely blank. No ghosts, no reflection of the car, nothing. The other two times I assume it was in B-mode as you could see the ghosts but not the reflection.

Yes I was there from 12 - 20 Oct. The effect is BROKEN!!!! The front screen that is supposed to show the people in the buggy is dead, not working, nana. You clearly see the large plasma/led screens that project the ghosts. VERY VERY BAD SHOW FOR DISNEY!!!!! Guess they needed the maintenance money for MM+, FP+ and MB's, because $2 billion wasn't enough. The whole "PLUS" stuff is going to be useless if they have nothing working in the parks to attract customers.

Another reason why the original, practical effect was better.

The old effect was classic WDW. All you had to do was watch the smiles on people's faces as they experienced it to see how well it really worked. It evoked a genuine reaction. The new (and apparently unreliable?) effect is a flat-line. Another video screen in a park/resort that has way too many.

I will sit all day long talking about how Disney lost its way and the parks are becoming stale. They will hype garbage yet ignore cool things they may do. This is where I argue is different. I love the care put into the mansion and love the improvements. If it wasn't for haunted mansion I would probably never go back.

Yes
I was there last week and it worked on Sunday and Monday but not when I went on Friday. I was able to see the ghosts but not our reflections

....there were 'glitches" even back in late August when we were there. The 'head switch" effect would freeze and only show a 'bluuuuury" picture.

It would have been smarter to have switched off the ghost screens completely... We rode the mansion twice during the weekend and it was broken both times two different days... The lack of forward lighting made the mirrors completely invisible and you are looking at monitors behind... no illusion...no mystery... Spoils the effect forever. bad bad Bad show.
