Loving the report
The Steakhouse 55 is a great spot for dinner
A lot more quiet and relaxing than Goofy's kitchen next door

24 layer chocolate cake - c'mon - mama never raised a quitter!!!!
Good attempt
You will need to order less entrée next time!!!!

Max

I know I was really disappointed in myself. I probably shouldn't have eaten the dinner roll. I don't know about less entree though, I really loved that steak and truffle mac and cheese. Next time I will probably have my husband with so between the two of us we should be able to finish it all.

I'm abandoning all other plans for our August trip so I can get this cake.

But really, DW and I have been watching British Bake Off so I'm a little obsessed with layer cakes right now. I found a video of the 24 layer cake being made and I can't stop drooling!

I'm enjoying your wonderful report and it's getting me extra excited for our trip!!

I've seen that video too, and it makes me want the cake again.

My hubs and I like watching the British Baking Show too, all that stuff always looks so good but too time consuming to make.

Loving your report! Don't know why I didn't notice you'd started it until now! It's making me miss Disneyland . I am always one of those annoying people having to trade in a printed ticket :D oops! If they had separate lines, it would be better. Also, I totally missed all of the musicians when I went! We must have just not been in the right places for them! Kind of a bummer, I would love that.

I LOVE THAT SHOW!!! I have been watching it on Netflix. I can't bake at all, so it's so fascinating to watch.

Thanks! My first couple visits I missed out on seeing all the different musicians at Disneyland. Now I actively search them out, but sometimes I am just lucky and end up in the right spot at the right time.

I decided to watch the second showing of the Main Street Electrical Parade. I'm not a huge fan of this parade, I like Paint the Night better, and it has been at WDW for so long I didn't feel much excitement for it. I figured though it was a Disneyland original and I should see it in the original spot and on Main Street. I ended up finding a spot on Main Street behind a family of four, I was pleased with the spot I found about 10 minutes from the parade starting, the kids were small and I would have no problem seeing over them. Right before the parade started a cast member came along and said that anyone not sitting on the curb would have to stand. I had no problem with that, but the dad in front of me insisted that I take his spot so I could sit and he would stand. I thought it was very nice of him and he would not take no for an answer. So I had a nice front row view.

I ended up really enjoying the parade and it seemed brighter and more refreshed than the last time I saw it at WDW last summer. So here are some pictures of the parade.

Pinocchio seemed to be having lighting difficulties and got it fixed right next to me.

Twisting twirly roads..

And I was predicting that the ride would be ending soon, and then I saw this bright sign. It was very intriguing and I got enraptured with the scene that I forgot to pay attention and I went careening right into the car in front of me. I was really a bad bang, I felt so bad that I yelled out "I'm sorry!". I don't know if the girl in front of me heard but I really was sorry for bumping her car so hard.

Sympathy like, but, at least it wasn't in your real car on your local "Autopia"...! ;)

A couple more shots of the parade.

After the parade I wandered over to Big Thunder, the wait time was 5 minutes so I rode a couple times.

Then I just wandered a bit and took some night pictures and rode the Haunted Mansion before heading out for the night.

New Orleans Square was pretty quiet on this visit at night and on my last visit too. I kept thinking about how nice it was and how different it will be when Fantasmic returns. While I like Fantasmic and I look forward to seeing it again I will miss the quiet of the area.

I had this crazy idea of a side-by-side attraction (although there's probably no where near enough room in MK) for these two together. You could have the older Speedway, and then Autotopia next to it--as more of a futuristic ride.

I also would have loved to have seen (from the original Future World in EPCOT), World of Motion, with Test Trak as the pavilion next to it--again, the old, next to the new. I mean, wouldn't that be a fun transition?

It's funny (or maybe not ;)), but, I have often thought it would be cool for TDO to create a 5th gate as a Disney Nostalgia Park, containing all, or most, of the extinct attractions...completely ridiculous, non-feasible, and waaayyyyy too expensive, but, just a nonsensicle thought I've had over the course of many years...so cool to think about, for me anyway, though...! :)

So to kill some time before the Flag Retreat I wandered around the Disneyland Gallery and looked at all the art work I can't afford but would love to have.

I saw this in the "vault" and later in the trip I saw someone buying the Shrunken Ned skull thing which was really pricey. I thought if they were going to buy the model they should also buy the print/sign but they didn't.

An area where animation cells get painted for sale.

A sketch artist at work. If I had any artistic talent, this would be my dream job. But I can barely draw a square so, I won't be a sketch artist in the future.

Here a couple paintings I would love.

And this is my new dream souvenir...

but not at this price...

I thought this was kind of cool and retro.

After looking at the art I went to see if there were any bench spaces for the flag retreat, and I was able to find a spot.

Oh my!
Love Disney art, as you already know (I was on that site again, and really need to stay away...many more pieces I want to buy  ;))...! :)

The flag retreat ceremony is such a special tradition that I'm sooo very glad they still keep it up. Hope they never discontinue such a respectful and beautiful tradition...!

Again, awesome pics...!!! :)

I know what you mean about the Disney art, if I let it my house would be covered with it!

Well, even more than it is!;)

I made it to the Disneyland Hotel and to the Steakhouse 55 Lounge. There were plenty of tables free at the lounge but no seats at the bar and in order to order off the regular restaurant menu you have to sit at the bar. Luckily after about 5 minutes a group of people left the bar and there was plenty of space.

I started with a beer,

Then I ordered a rib-eye, medium well. Rib-eye is my favorite type of steak.
View attachment 203797

And more importantly, I got the truffle mac and cheese. DELICIOUS!

I wanted some dessert and I was pretty confident I could take down the 24 Layer chocolate cake, so I got it.
View attachment 203800

And I failed. I could have taken it with me but I didn't want to carry it around. That was probably a good call, but that night back at the hotel I could have finished it.

I had to take my camera out in the bathroom...ewww I know but the wall paper was really cool!

And time to leave and head back to the park. Cool door mat on the way out though.

OH MYYY!!!
A thousand times YES to all that delicious scrumptiousness...!!!!! :joyfull:
I'll take my rib-eye medium rare, please...!!! :hungry: ;) :)

I can only do medium well, it is a fairly recent change. Until about a year ago it had to be well done, going to France changed my mind. I didn't dare order well done there, I probably would have gotten kicked out of the restaurants there!
