Hilarious Disney Book

I have yet to read this, but plan on picking up a copy soon. Anyone run across any threads about this book over on Disboards? I wonder how the...umm...largely "delicate sensibilities" over there handled it.

Just because you, yourself wouldn't do a lot of the things in the book doesn't mean it's not a fun and enjoyable read (as other posters have pointed out). I mean, I don't plan on ever doing a copious amount of drugs, but I still enjoy Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Nothing wrong with a nice vicarious experience!

If it was posted over there, I'm sure it was deleted right away.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, Jerm, we have been getting a decent amount of press lately, which has been cool but also has me worried about crackdowns from The Company....

Eh, what are they gonna do? We might see locks on the utilidor entrances now, but that's about it. The book speaks the truth about how stupid some people are in trying to cheat the system.

Welcome to the boards. We don't get the kudos here or the amount of traffic that the DIS gets, but it's a lot more fun and there are far less weirdos here (save for Jimmy Thick.) Just kidding Jimmy - We love ya.

Someone started a thread about it over there a while back. I logged in and made one post, basically saying the same thing I said here, and was immediately perma-banned and IP-blacklisted. Their reason for banning me was that I'd put my website in my signature. No warning, and no chance of appealing. Ridiculous.

Links to websites which generate income/members are not allowed unless approved by the webmaster here, also. It's pretty common.

I think those Utilidor entrances are technically fire exits, so legally I'm not sure they're allowed to put locks on the doors. But they could put "Cast Member Only" signs on there, which I guess would allow them to get you for trespassing. Right now there's not much they can do if they catch you down there and you say you were just looking for a bathroom or something.

But I was recently warned by someone with a lot of high-level Company connections to stop pushing my luck, because I was close to getting "BOLO'd" (be on the lookout)....

Speaking of which, I've been wondering: what happens if you own DVC and then get banned for life from WDW? Will they buy it back from you? Can they ban you from property that you partially "own"?

Hmm, mine is mainly a blog, although I guess technically you can also buy my book there. But the point is that I would have gladly removed it if I'd been given a warning. I think an immediate perma-ban and IP blacklist was way over the top.

I bought this book after getting tipped off to it by Mesa Verde Times. Very fun read. I actually sat down and read it all in one sitting, which I NEVER do. Heck, I never actually even read a book. :lookaroun

But I DO have to admit... As I was reading along, I constantly found myself saying almost out loud "NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! DISNEY WILL READ THIS AND PUT AND END TO (this or that)!!!" I can think of a few right off the top of my head.

Hopefully that won't be the case.

And Leonard - Do me a favor... Lay into Hoot and Chief to get going on that El Rio blog, will you???

Haha! That's why I didn't put a few of my best tricks in the book - I didn't want them to get ruined! But yeah, according to Jim Hill managers at Guest Services are making their employees read the book so they can be on the lookout for some of the scams I describe. Which is pretty cool, actually.

Funny you should mention that, because Hoot just updated it recently. I did harass him at the party about his lack of updates, but he gets a pass because he wife has had some major health issues and that's been his priority.

I also took some really great Mexico backstage video recently, and then had Hoot and Chief do a live commentary about it (which basically consisted of them telling me what a dumbass I was). But like I said, I'm going to have to hold off posting it for a while....

You mentioned Youtube videos?
Anyway to link to your youtube account?
If not any suggestions on how I mgiht find them?

Also I gotta say even if there are those who may disagree with you, its always fun to see a new perspective or way of thinking about something we love so much. Thanks for writing the book, I plan on getting it myself this Xmas.

Still my preferred method for reading, although on this one, it was a spur of the moment decision, so I went ahead and got it as digital.

The paperback is definitely how I'd prefer people read it. It uses the fonts and layout I thought suited the mood of the book. For the e-books all formatting basically had to be scrubbed, which was a shame.

Hi, Leonard Kinsey here! CaptainKidd emailed me and suggested I stop by this thread, so here I am!

Thanks a bunch to CaptainKidd and anyone else who purchased the book. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about it or WDW in general.

Hi Leonard. Everyone speaks highly of your book and I really want to read it. Can I find a version in spanish? I ask this because I'm from Argentina.
Thanks!

You can purchase it on amazon.es, but unfortunately it's not available in any other languages yet. Hopefully in the near future I'll be able to find someone willing to buy the foreign rights and do some translations!
