The High School Musical (HSM) Rolling Pep Rally began yesterday (1-22-07) at the Disney MGM Studios. Today it starts regular performances that run approximately every hour on the half hour. These are not listed in the times guide.

It starts rolling from the Star Tours gate and rolls to the hat. It stops and does a show for about 10-15 minutes and then continues to roll from the hat, down Hollywood Blvd, and then backstage through Sid's gate.

Everyone really seemed to enjoy it. There were lots of upper level managers around with smiles on.

Before anyone asks, I've never seen the show either on TV or at the MK, so I can't give you comparisons. It was peppy and enjoyable and lots of people were singing along.

For those who like to avoid crowds, you might want to skip the Hat area between the hours of 2 PM and 5 PM. The parade starts at 3. Then there is a HSM show around 3:45 followed immediately by the Parade Characters meet and greet hat set (not in the times guide). Then another performance of HSM at 4:45.

Does anyone know how long this will last? We are going in October and I know my DD would love to see it (I know it's not the original cast or anything) because she is totally into High School musical. Her room is about to go from Princesses to High School musical (she's 8)

Thanks Gorjus. I thought that it was going over near the RnRc but I guess not. I have to check it the next time that I go to MGM

Thanks for the information. I also would like to know if there is a date time frame on it, as we will probably be goin the end of November and my DD would absolutely love to see this. We had to see the concert tour a couple of weeks ago when it came around.

Thanks for the info.

And that one guy, can't remember his forum name, got all worked up because it was "going to replace Al's Toy Barn."

Disclaimer: I really do love my job.

Well, first of all, how sad is it that as a cast member, I get most of my information/scoops from this board and not from the Disney Company. But, having done some research on it, it appears that the High School Musical will be here for the foreseeable future. I don't see an ending date or anything that says temporary on it. But again, the Cast Website isn't a wealth of information.

I love my job, but working for any large corporation can at times be just plain silly if you want to find anything out or get anything done.

It will last as long as Disney can pump more money out of it;-) It is not that bad of a show, and it sounds like it is now the same show as here in DCA like everyone said it would be. I like the fact that Disney is getting back to doing more large scale entertainment during the day, like how it used to be.

It's a permanent addition (well, as permanent as any shows). Since High School Musical 2 premieres in August of this year, I would bet it will be around for awhile.

I can confirm that it will be around for quite a while. My S is the male singer in the show and his contract goes until February of 2008. Then again, his original contract for the Pep Rally at MK was supposed to go through this year and was then ended when the show was moved to the Studios so I guess you never know. (He had to reaudition and was lucky to be cast again). I was there for the opening yesterday and it was really entertaining. Much more lively and "big" than it was at MK. More of the songs and the energy the float got going through the park was great on what was a pretty slow day. Plus it just makes more sense at MGM. For those interested, the show times are 9:35, 10:35, 11:35, 1:25, 3:45 and 4:45.

This makes so much sense. Infuses a park that needs a bit of a jolt v. a park that has gotten quite a few upgrades. It has an already used route to play down (like the Trolley show in MK). It also fits more thematically since this is a production-oriented park, and this is a fully Disney-produced, contemporary production. Kudos to the decision makers that said Studios was preferable to MK. I think this is a job well done. Now, this poster may use it as a means of escaping crowds similar to some of the parades, but that doesn't mean I think it is a bad thing at all (like the parades)! :D

I caught the last half of it yesterday. It was good to see that it has been re-vamped to more closely mimic the West Coast version. It's a really enjoyable show, and the crowd really seemed into it (or at least I was... :lookaroun ). It fits extremely well there... now all they need to do is get rid of Beauty and the Beast for a revised version of On The Record and the park will be set entertainment wise...

It's been open for a whole day now and nobody has a video yet? Lol....I was so mad I missed it last week, and I'd love to see any pics/video anyone may get!

Personally, I'd rather watch the grass grow on the other side of the park, but thankfully this show is where it should be at MGM and I have no doubt that the target audience will be pleased. Win-win situation.

That's awsome. Good luck to him.:)
