High level Disney Executives on property this week

The general talk is that... Bob Chapek has enjoyed the Parks & Resorts for many years, both as a child and taking his own children many times over the years. This has developed his passion for the Parks & Resorts side of the business. He is eager to step into this new role and is quickly learning everything he can during his world tour of all the sites. Since taking on the new role, he has visited Paris and Disneyland, with this week at Walt Disney World... I'm not sure if he has visited any other international sites.

I beg to differ. It's very possible the point of these visits by execs could be to further push nextgen into the other resorts. For those of us not completely fond of that program, that reason would be "not good".

It's possible... but I would think they know by now how the current NextGen stuff works...many have visited since they started that... but who knows... regardless I still think them being visible at the parks to keep up with how things look and run is good.

Bob Chapek has lived in Southern California for 25 years and has had free passes to Disneyland, while he raised his kids and now his first grandchild in SoCal. As a local with free passes, he obviously took his family to Disneyland and DCA many times as a guest. And yet he still spent four days in Anaheim a few weeks ago getting an overview of the site and its existing and future projects, and how the business works.

This is likely his first visit to WDW as a CM. I would imagine he's not going on any WDW rides or inspecting dingy monorail cabins, but is instead being introduced to key executives in Orlando and receiving briefings and overviews on their important projects and strategic goals. He's also getting a basic lay-of-the-land experience with a few walking tours in the parks where he glad-hands and says hi to the ride operators, custodians and burger flippers working the parks.

You can bet an official photographer was conveniently on hand for staged meetings with entry-level CM's for the next issue of the company newsletter. :D

Yep - that's the place he should start. Not DHS.
Somehow I dont see him just jumping into the deep end of the pool. Has that ever been done by a new park exec? I was only making a suggestion to start of on an easy note.

Fair enough! Just thought I would share what I have heard. I don't mind giving the guy a vote of confidence since no one else here seems inclined.

Visiting the parks as a guest with your family is very different than visiting the parks as the leader of Parks & Resorts. I'm sure the majority of guests there for vacation only don't think about the operation. Don't fault the guy for enthusiasm and interest in his new job.
