Hello Dining Experts, ok everyone knows places like Cali Grill, Le Cellier, The Yachtsman Steakhouse, etc. Could everyone name a hidden gem or
underated restaurant that people may not think of right away that would be worth giving a try!! Also please feel free to name any favorite dishes.
By the way I was looking at the great restaurant food pictures, and unless
I missed it I don't remember seeing any pictures of the famous AKL Zebra
Domes. Someone needs to get a shot of those!!!!:slurp:

During our visit last year we challenged ourselves to try new restaurants. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian became an instant favorite of our family. My DW had the Coconut Almond Chicken and found it to be absolutely delicious. My DS enjoyed the Teriyaki New York Strip Streak. His only negative comment was the steak was a little smaller than he would have liked (he's a growing teenager so you know how much it takes to fill them up LOL). I had the Shrimp and Scallops and they were cooked perfectly. For dessert we each enjoyed something different and sampled each others. The favorite of the three (Kona Cone, Banana-Chocolate Creme Brulee, Kilauea Torte) was the Kilauea Torte. We have already booked our ADR's for our trip in July and Kona is first on our list! Bon apetite!!!

Here are some of my favorite "hidden gems":

Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge (although this is quickly gaining popularity)

Big River Grille and Brewing Works at Boardwalk

Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West

House of Blues at Downtown Disney (I was really impressed by the food here)

Some of ours are;

Grand Floridian Cafe

Captain's Grille

Plaza Restaurant ( not "fine" dining but a nice place just the same)

As mentioned by others Portobello Yacht Club & Kona Cafe also fit into this catagory as well.

For years we have thought of the Kona as a "find".. also Big River Grill at Boardwalk - my husband wanted to try it for the beers but the food was good too so we went back again..:)

the Contemp Cafe at the Contemporary also has some good food!

I echo Sanaa - so great! And I would add the Wave - all organic - delicious - feels signature for a very reasonable price.

I second Olivia's. My husband and I stopped there for breakfast on our last day of our vacation and it was the best breakfast we had on Disney property, definitely would go again!

I second the Kona Cafe. We did the same thing our last visit, we love the Polynesian so we wanted an excuse to go there, and on a whim chose Kona. Afterwards my whole family agreed that it was the best all-around meal...and we went to Cali Grill. In all seriousness heed this advice: Get the tuna oscar. I still think about it.
