We're checking in on the 20th.... Probably with at least half of Cherokee County, GA which is the week-long Fall Break for that school system.

Off topic, but you're going on break already?! My kids don't even start back until tomorrow! I guess its a regional thing...

Does anyone know how the crowds are in mid October I will be there the 15-23 Thanks:)

Two years ago I was there Oct. 19-26 and it was lovely. Monday - Wednesday was somewhat slow, crowds light and a lot of rides were minimal walk-on, but that was in 2007. When it hit Thursday and Friday, the day I left, the crowds continued to build.

Tuesday of my trip went to Universal with a friend of mine and he was alarmed that everything at Islands of Adventure and Studios were walk-ons. He was shocked that it took longer for us to walk the queue in Hulk than it took to ride the coaster. The same, I attested, at Tower, Rock n Roller, Everest, Test Track, and Sapce Mountain. Soarin, though, was 45 minutes, even for a single rider / solo traveler like me.

Have a great time! And yes, I echo WDW1974 -- all bets are off concerning the stagnant economy. Make the most of it.

Yesterday at Epcot was very nice with light crowds. Max posted wait was 30 for Soarin, but only took 8 min to get to merge point. We rode Soarin' 4 times and Test Track 4 times and rode everything else with no wait. Rain didn't come until we began our Teppan Edo dinner. Great steak and chicken btw! Rain stopped for Illuminations and started again as we were leaving. I do see the correlation between increased crowds and night time entertainment like Spectro and Fantasmic. With greater crowds, it could totally ruin your day. As a passholder and frequent visitor, I never encouraged park hopping. I do now. Enjoy the light park and hop in for night entertainment an hour or so before.

I don't get why they don't hold like 10 or 20% of reservations for the day of so people can actually eat in the park, that way you don't anger the daily guests and they can get into the TS places.

would'nt that be nice?...I do feel for the people who really don't know that basically all the TS places you now need to make reservations in advance....Or those people who haven't been to Disney in a while and think you can just go up to a TS and eat that very day or get ressies for sometime during your trip (we've done that and been lucky, but thats not always the case)....Yeah gone are those days....Which I miss ,we aren't to fond of having a bunch of ressie's , we do them, a few but not every day...We kinda like playing it by ear....A girl I work with is going down to disney this weekend and I had asked her what places they'll be eating at while they are there....She had no clue that she should of made Reservations for the TS places a while ago.....Yeah she has'nt been in at least 5 years....Yeah I feel for her...

We have a "modified" year-round school schedule. We started back at the beginning of August. Although the summer is shorter (about eight weeks), it allows for a few more breaks: week long fall break in September, a week in November, two weeks in Decembers, one week in February and one week in April.

A lot of people from this area take off to Florida during the fall break. It's great: the weather is nice, we get off-season rates at hotels, and when we go to WDW, the crowds are lighter than normal. We often do get funny looks, though!

Wednesday was a great day at AK... walk-ons for Kali, Everest, Kiliminjaro, Tough to be a Bug. No wait for Tusker House. The temps weren't scorching. I'm sure the rain kept some people away, but it reminds me of why the best time to go to the Mouse during the year is the middle of the week when school is in session.

sorry for getting off topic, but that just makes me think how many people actually make the ADR, then never show when it's time.

I'm jealous!! Glad you are finding low crowds.

I went during Spring Break (for the first and LAST time - LOL) earlier this year and witnessed capacity crowds. It was amazing to see and survive!!

We have the same in Henry County, Ga but our fall break is the week before yours. We just love the Modified schedule. FREE DINING TIME!

Do you guys care to elaborate on what particular weeks you have off? The week of September 20th was mentioned. But, when in Nov, Dec, Feb and April do you guys have off. I am most interested in the 2 weeks you get off in December. Might I assume it is the same 2 weeks everyone else gets off - 21st - 1st, last day of school the 18, returning on the 4th??

Thanks! :)

Thats the thing hubby and I were talking about not too long ago, people making an ADR's then not showing up, especially now with being able to make them online.....to me I can see that happening alot...That is why I really don't mind when there is a restuarant that you need to give your credit card as a hold and if you don't show your charged....To me if I don't show up and don't call to cancel....its my own fault , I should be charged because someone else could have filled that spot.... But thats me...

This is great.. We will be there in the evening on tuesday.. I was going to lounge by the pool that night but its sounding like an early start to rides..

Great to know, thanks for the update! Keep those light crowds coming until my arrival! 9/27!

You guys that leave in a few hours, or a few days, or next week, making me insanely jealous! I still have 24 days! It seems so close, yet so far away!!

Love those september crowds (or lack of).:sohappy:
I've been 2 of the past 3 septembers, and leaving again this sunday.
The crowds are always amazingly light (except in the restaurants).
