Help!

I just started planning a trip to Disney. Originally I had planned it for March 2013...but then I realized it was cheaper to go in September.

I don't know if I can wait a whole year lol. Does anyone have any suggestions on when to go and it no be as expensive as it is in March?

A little more info may be in order. Okay, a lot more info.

Let's start with your parameters. When CAN you go? Were you looking at March because you have kids in school and can't go during the "off season"?

Once we have eliminated the times when you can't go, we can explore the best of the remaining times.

If you are flexible, i.e. not tied into a school year, there are times in Jan/September which are the cheapest and best time to go. There are cheaper times to go, for example, after the new Feb/April - BUT - you need to avoid mid winter breaks and spring break. You also want to avoid times around holidays - like Easter, Presidents weekend, Martin Luther king, etc. And then in May, the early part before Memorial Day.

My Daughter's 4rth birthday is March 28th so that's why I was planning it in March. The only reason I was looking in Sept was because it was a whole lot cheaper. Also it will give me a little bit more spending money if we go right after i get my taxes. Thats not really a big deal but it would be nice. I can go anytime Feb. 2013 to September 2013.

Yea....I'm gonna look at Feb. now. May is just too hot! lol

My Son and family went in March and he said the crowds were AWFUL!! We have gone in September the last couple of times and loved it. Yes it is very hot but the low crowds make it worth it. Our next trip Nov 9 2012 and counting down the days!

What about January 2013? Crowds are low and it's inexpensive.

I think you are being wise in reconsidering the time of year -- during the slow times of year, hotel and flight costs can be as little as HALF the cost of peak times. (This is not hyperbole: when we were planning our upcoming trip, I compared the costs of a mid-October vacation with the cost of a same-duration trip over Easter break 2013, and found that going in March-April 2013 would cost almost twice as much, for a moderate WDW resort hotel and flights with the same airline! Ticket costs, of course, remain relatively fixed.) With the money you save, you can afford to go to WDW again, far sooner, than if you travel during peak times.

I agree. We did some rethinking last night and it looks like we are sticking with September and staying at the art of animation resort.
I think January would be too cold for her. She gets ear infections easily so i don't wanna risk her being sick after we get home.

We always go in September. The crowds are lighter, it is not as hot as the summer, but it is still hot enough for swimming. The last time we went in February, we hit a freak cold spell. It was only in the 50's while we were there. I wore the same red Mickey fleece everyday, because I didn't pack anything warm enough.

What might work well is weekdays mid September. Still quite warm, low crowds and you have the option to take your daughter to a not so scary parade.

That time in february you were looking at can have a lot of people here in northeast visiting during winter recess.

That's exactly what i was afraid of. She gets really bad ear infections (she has tubes). That wouldn't be very magical lol!
