Help with my ADRs!

I must say, I know this is redundant as many of us do this... but perhaps you guys can give me some feedback here. Normally, I'm very decisive on ADRs but I'm having a tougher time this year for a number of reasons... I could really use everyones help!

1) This will be our third trip on the dining plan. I want to try out new restaurants, but I also enjoy some of our favorites.

2) This will be our first trip ever without park hoppers. I'm super nervous about this. I usually don't worry too much about ADRs because the ADR doesn't have to match the park of the day. This trip will be a change from that.

3) I will be 7 months pregnant this trip. I'm a little nervous about food sensitivities and also looking to use ADRs as relaxing breaks from the parks.

Sooo... here's the current plan.

Wed - Magic Kingdom Day - Dinner at Ohana. I've very excited about this. New restaurant for us and a definite keeper.

Thurs - Epcot - Dinner at Garden Grill - This gets mixed reviews. I like the sound of the food options and think a character meal would be fun. I'm open to changing this one. New restaurant.

Friday - Magic Kingdom - Dinner at Kona Cafe - New restaurant. Comments?

Saturday - Animal Kingdom - Dinner at Boma - - We've done this before and enjoyed it. We've done Sanaa every trip and figured we would go back to Boma for a change. Open to changing this as well.

Sunday - Hollywood Studios - Dinner at Sci Fi - I originally wanted to book the Fantasmic package, but the menu and atmosphere here appeals to me more than the menu at Mama Melrose. Also a new restaurant. Will I regret not having the package as I stand in line for Fantasmic?

I'm looking for one credit meals with good atmosphere and good food. What does everyone think?

We tried Garden Grill on my last trip. It was underwhelming. Not bad, but nothing special either.

Kona Cafe is very good - and it sounds like you like the idea of being at the Poly. Keep it.

If you've tried Boma and Sanaa, then why not try Jiko? Love it, but you can't go wrong eating anywhere at AKL.

Lastly, don't feel bad about the Fantasmic! package - unless it's been changed, I hear the reserved seats aren't the greatest and even with the limited showings, it's still not worth it. (via WDWToday podcast)

Also, just a suggestion... but, if you do throw the Garden Grill out and you still plan on being in Epcot that day:

Try boating to the Boardwalk, Khouzina (spelling?) would be a good option for you.

All your ADR's lool and sound good :slurp: to except the Garden Grill. I would suggest Via Napli or like the post above walking or taking the boat over to the Boardwalk area. There are a lot of choices..not sure what you have and have not tired. Big River Grill or Capitans Grill are 2 options.

I would agree with everyone else and scrap the garden grill. If you are going to boat over to boardwalk area the captains grill is also another good choice @ the yacht club.

Tried Sci-Fi Diner once this past trip, I will never go back. The service was pretty bad, and the food wasn't that great. There are SO many better options in the parks and beyond, I can't imagine why people like this place.
Maybe I missed something...
If I were you I would go for dinner at one of the hotels the day you spend at DHS. Try Shula's at the Dolphin. I have been a few times and it has always impressed. Plus you can take the friendship boat from DHS.

Kona Cafe is my favorite restaurant, definitely keep it! I love the chicken wing appetizer there, I could live off of that, haha

Garden Grill, I thought the food was average, but the characters there are cute and it was nice to go somewhere different for characters than our usual places. I liked how the food was served family style too.

Wow, with the number of people who have not so good reviews for Garden Grill maybe we will dump it. Maybe we'll substitute it with one of the world showcase restaurants that day. I liked the idea of a family style character meal - are there any other character meals that aren't buffets?

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

*We love the dinner at Ohana, plenty of options if you are taste/smell sensitive

Thurs - Epcot - Dinner at Garden Grill - This gets mixed reviews. I like the sound of the food options and think a character meal would be fun. I'm open to changing this one. New restaurant.
*This is the one palce my son has asked to go back to. The food is average, but the charcters more then make up for it. The restauant has never seems busy and so that leaves the character plenty of time to hang around

Friday - Magic Kingdom - Dinner at Kona Cafe - New restaurant. Comments?
*We have only done the breakfast and it was AMAZING

Saturday - Animal Kingdom - Dinner at Boma - - We've done this before and enjoyed it. We've done Sanaa every trip and figured we would go back to Boma for a change. Open to changing this as well.
*Not my cup of tea, I actually ate off the kids selection and prob never go back. We did enjoy lunch at Yak & Yeti a few years ago

*There is no place at DHS that we actually like. If I HAD to eat some where this is prob where I'd pick. But I'd prob scoot out and hit someplace at Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club instead

'Ohana is one of our favorites.
We have eaten at Garden Grill & although it was pretty good, it is not on our favorites list.
Our favorite Epcot restaurant would have to be Teppan Edo.
We have never eaten at Kona or Boma, but I have heard good things about both.
Sci-Fi is also on our favorites list - I love their milkshakes!

LOVE Ohana and Kona Cafe :slurp:
We did Garden Grill many years ago and it was decent. I'd switch it up and do Via Napoli though if it were me!
Never done Boma or Si Fi but we are trying SF for the first time in April. We usually go to 50's Prime Time Cafe but my sister wanted to switch it up a bit. We love 50s though. Also trying Sanaa for the first time as well. I've read great reviews about it.

After hearing everyone's "meh" reviews about Garden Grill, we switched this up for a 7:15 reservation at the Rose and Crown. Last time we scored a 7:15 we were able to sit on the patio and timed dessert with Illuminations. Hopefully we'll get that lucky again. I suppose there will be many more opportunities for character meals. Thanks everyone!

You could always do a character breakfast at Cape May cafe, then walk to EPCOT, and use counter service to eat around the world. Cape May is great for breakfast, and great character interaction. There's donald, goofy, minnie, and i think chip n dale. A great way to start the day. And it's alot less congested than Chef Mickeys. Just a thought.
