This reminds me of my first trip to WDW:
On Christmas morning (several years ago when my sister and I were just in grade school), I went to my parent's room to wake them up. My sister and I went down to the Christmas tree to find...nothing. The tree and the presents had dissappeared, milk and cookies were spilled across the living room floor. "What happened to Christmas?!!" my sister shouted. My father replied, "Oh, I guess you kids were bad this year--very, very bad." My mother added that, "per Santa Clause, Christmas has been cancelled indefinitely, and you should feel ashamed--very, very ashamed."
After a few minutes of shock and horror, my parents told us to get in the car (without breakfast) for a drive because they were "tired of dealing with such dissapointing children." Sick to our stomachs, my sister and I reluctantly got into the car (mom and dad had already packed our suitcases, as we would be going away for "a long time."), and we began to drive.
"Where are you sending us?" I asked. All my mom would say is, "away, son...away."
We drove for an hour. The hour became two...and around the Kentucky/Tennessee border, my parents finally allowed us to eat sandwiches they had packed. It was a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich with grape jelly (my sister and I HATED grape jelly).
Seventeen hours later (we had been blindfolded for the final 2 hours), the car finally stopped. We were ordered out of the car, and to take off our blind folds. Our heads hung low, we removed the blindfolds to find that we were...in the Magic Kingdom parking lot!!!!
"Merry Christmas!!" they shouted. My sister and I looked at eachother. I threw up...but then raised my arms in holiday glee! We were at Disney World!
It was the best Christmas EVER!!!!!!
Thanks Mom and Dad!
too cool, I'm actually in Opelika, but most folks don't know where that is, if they don't live around these parts. War Eagle!
For the '03 Christmas, our family surprised us with a trip leaving the 27th. My Dad & Mom rewrote the "Night before Christmas" poem to make it like a riddle for us to figure out and they stuck it in my stocking. Well me and my siblings were not morning persons and it took us about 5 minutes to figure out what the riddle meant (my mom got it on video and it was quite hilarious afterwards). I'll see if I can find a copy of it for you.
My girls are 9 and 11 and we are planning a christmas treasure hunt to announce our trip to Disney.
Your gift is a mystery you'll have to unravel.
One little hint...this gift involves travel.
Check all the stockings to find the first clue.
It's what you would need on your voyage if you flew.
Love
