We surpised our kids with a trip also.
I bought each of them a Disney canvas bag and a autograph book and pen off of ebay. Then I added Disney Books (passporter, etc) to each of the bags as well as an envelop with Disney Dollars for each of them.
Also some snacks for the plane.
We actually had told them we were going to Wisconsin Dells and didn't tell them we were going to Disney until we were at the airport in Chicago.
We videotaped them opening their bags and figuring out what was going on.

This reminds me of my first trip to WDW:

On Christmas morning (several years ago when my sister and I were just in grade school), I went to my parent's room to wake them up. My sister and I went down to the Christmas tree to find...nothing. The tree and the presents had dissappeared, milk and cookies were spilled across the living room floor. "What happened to Christmas?!!" my sister shouted. My father replied, "Oh, I guess you kids were bad this year--very, very bad." My mother added that, "per Santa Clause, Christmas has been cancelled indefinitely, and you should feel ashamed--very, very ashamed."

After a few minutes of shock and horror, my parents told us to get in the car (without breakfast) for a drive because they were "tired of dealing with such dissapointing children." Sick to our stomachs, my sister and I reluctantly got into the car (mom and dad had already packed our suitcases, as we would be going away for "a long time."), and we began to drive.

"Where are you sending us?" I asked. All my mom would say is, "away, son...away."

We drove for an hour. The hour became two...and around the Kentucky/Tennessee border, my parents finally allowed us to eat sandwiches they had packed. It was a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich with grape jelly (my sister and I HATED grape jelly).

Seventeen hours later (we had been blindfolded for the final 2 hours), the car finally stopped. We were ordered out of the car, and to take off our blind folds. Our heads hung low, we removed the blindfolds to find that we were...in the Magic Kingdom parking lot!!!!

"Merry Christmas!!" they shouted. My sister and I looked at eachother. I threw up...but then raised my arms in holiday glee! We were at Disney World!

It was the best Christmas EVER!!!!!!

Thanks Mom and Dad!

What an awesome idea!!

For the '03 Christmas, our family surprised us with a trip leaving the 27th. My Dad & Mom rewrote the "Night before Christmas" poem to make it like a riddle for us to figure out and they stuck it in my stocking. Well me and my siblings were not morning persons and it took us about 5 minutes to figure out what the riddle meant (my mom got it on video and it was quite hilarious afterwards). I'll see if I can find a copy of it for you.

Treasure Hunt

My girls are 9 and 11 and we are planning a christmas treasure hunt to announce our trip to Disney.

Your gift is a mystery you'll have to unravel.
One little hint...this gift involves travel.
Check all the stockings to find the first clue.
It's what you would need on your voyage if you flew.
Love
Mom & Dad
(flight itineraries)

Attached to itineraries:
You've figured it out, we are going to Orlando.
Is a trip back to Disney something you could handle?
Our gift to you doesn't end there,
for the rest of this hunt take turns and play fair.
To find your next gift walk to the foyer,
turn to your left and open a drawer.
(brochure and disney maps)

Attached to maps & brochure:
These maps will help us find our way around Disney.
This hunt isn't over so you better get busy.
On our last trip this gift was our favorite snack.
Find it in a kitchen appliance with racks.
(chocolate covered rice krispy mickey head)

Attached to chocolate mickey:
You've found the first few gifts...you're sure not dummies.
Now take a short break and put one of these in your tummies.
When breaktime is over the hunt shall resume.
Your next gift is found in the place that stores the vacuum.
(mickey mouse tshirts)

Attached to tshirts:
We'll all look so cool in our matching Mickey shirts.
We hope that this hunt has kept you quite alert.
This hint is not a trick, a joke or a mirage.
You'll see the next gift on the coldest place in the garage
(Bibbiddi Bobbiddi boutique appointment card)

Attached to appt. card:
Just a wave of a magic wand and these words that are so neat,
you'll look just like Cinderella when you leave the Boutique.
Now the excitement's building; we can hardly wait.
Find the next gift with Maisy (our dog) to help keep the date.
(countdown calendar)

Attached to calendar:
This calendar will help mark the days til we leave
We're going back to Disney; It's hard to believe!
Your hunt's almost over, this is your final clue
Find your last gift where your mom stores her shoes.
(Disney Pictionary game)

Attached to game:
This game is to help us get in the mood for our trip
So today's excitement will not fade or slip.
Next time you're thinking that Disney's far away,
Take out this game and the family will PLAY!

Phone Call from Mickey

I just received an email response form Disney World about scheduling a Christmas Morning call from Mickey Mouse announcing our upcoming trip. Thought I'd share it with y'all. It's free. Go to this site. www.mickeyholidaycall.com
To hear what the call will say call 888-315-0958

It'll ask you to choose a greeting, enter your phone number, schedule a time, verify with your D.O.B. and enter your reservation confirmation number (twice).

Surprise!

We're surprising our 4 & 5 year olds with a trip the week before Christmas. I bought canvass bags & decorated them. Inside the bags are a disposible camera and a Mickey Mouse Santa hat. We're going to play a guessing game. I made up 10 questions to see if they can guess where we are going. When they guess right, I'll give them the bags. If they don't guess, I'll give them the bags. The Santa hats should be enough to give it away.:xmas:

WOW TwoTigersMom ...you live about 15 min from me...

Hey neighbor

Then I live near both of yall because I go to school at Auburn! War Eagle!

But, that is so exciting that you are surprising your kids! Last year my mom set up a surprise Disney trip for us over spring break because it would be my last spring break with my family. She let me check out of school early the friday before spring break and when I got home she asked me "Who is the best mom ever?" and I just started screaming "We are going to Disney World!" It was so much fun! I know that yall are going to have a great time! Christmas is such a great time to go!

Christmas Ideas

We gave my 8 year old nephew a trip to Disney for Christmas, even though he wasn't going until the summer. We had been @ WDW a few weeks before so we made a short video telling him he was going to WDW, but you could easily just write it down. Anyway we put it in a tiny box which we put in a slightly bigger box, and then another box, then another, so there were over 10 boxes and he was laughing the whole time opening it. You could print out pictures and wrap the different boxes with pics from each park.
