Help With Engagement

Hey everyone. Ive been reading this forum for a few days after stumbling upon it and finally decided to register.
As the thread title says, I need help proposing to my girlfriend. I've read about the proposals during before and after wishes and that is a great idea, but Im looking for something a little different. We will be staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground. Now, Ive read that Disney has come through and helped many people with proposing to their loved ones. My question is, how did you get them to do it and how much does it cost? We will be attending the Hoop-De-Doo-Musical-Revue, and I am wondering if anyone that has been to the show thinks there is a way Disney could help me work a proposal in?
And I am always up to other ideas. Any help or inspiration is appreciated greatly.

Ahhhh. I remember a few years ago when I had the same questions as you do now.
Here is the thread about my proposal if you care to read it.

The night I planned proposing after the fireworks I just talked the the nearest CM I could find about it. They were very helpful and most are ready to help. However if you are not happy with a reply that one CM gives you go to another one. Like anywhere you go some people help more than others.

What I did cost me nothing.

The Hoop De Do specializes in celebrations. We went last year for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Huge extended family event. When you get tickets, tell them about your special celebration. They will work it into the show. Just make sure they know you haven't proposed yet, but want to do it during the show. There is a section of the show where the actors go throughout the room and spotlight people having celebrations. For my in-laws they asked them how long they were married (although they already knew), and then had the spotlight on them while they danced to a romantic song. It was an amazing experience and they were thrilled. Two other people in our group were invited to be part of the show later on, and seeing my brother-in-law dance around in a pink tutu was priceless!

Thank You! That is exactly what I needed to know. I think this is what I'm going to do.

OK so I made my reservation for the Hoop De Doo Revue and told the lady that I am wanting to propose during the show. She told me I would have to call the proposal line and gave me this number: 407-824-4477. I called the number and it rings "busy." Does anyone know what I should do? Im getting nervous as I want everything to be perfect. Is there actually a proposal line? Or do I just tell a CM at the show that I want to propose during the show? Any advice from someone who has done this is greatly appreciated.

Keep trying the phone number, although you'll probably have better luck on Monday than over the weekend. And keep us posted! :)

Keep trying the line. It's better to try and get things arranged ahead of time. But you should also remind them when you get there as well when you check in (or when she goes to the ladies room). If you can't get through on the engagement line, trying calling the reservations line again and explain what you want to do and that the "engagement line" is always busy and see if they can help you. Most of the CMs we have spoken with on the phone have been extremely helpful in connecting us to the right people.

Well things are not looking good for a Hoop De Doo proposal. I have been getting the run-around from every number I call. Everyone I speak to is trying to be nothing but helpful but I just can't get in touch with the right people.

I am not too hesitant to call it quits on this idea anyway. I was never really sure how nice or romantic it would be, since I have never seen the show. I was just aiming for something different.

However, I have new ideas. I know that many people have proposed during Wishes at MK. I do really like this idea, but I dont want to seem unimaginative and careless. Regardless, that is one option I am considering.

The other option I am considering goes along the same lines. At FWC, which is where we are staying, you can see the fireworks decently and they play the music and soundtrack right on time as well. I was thinking about proposing on the beach area there. There are less people and noise, which means I can say what I want and she will hear me. The downside to this is there is not a perfect view of the Wishes fireworks, which is half the show, as well as the lack of a big crowd, which we all know is a lot in what girls/women want when they are proposed to.

I could really use the help weighing these two options, and would GREATLY appreciate any suggestions on what others have done.

I spoke to someone just before the parade was about to begin about my proposal there. I just found the first CM I could find and they put me in touch with someone that could help. I was inside of the rose garden in front of the castle. We were by ourselves out there and we had plenty of room and she could hear me just fine. However I think I was quite lucky to get what I got at the last moment.

I read just like you did about engagements at Disney. The more I read the more I found out unless you want to put down some cash then you just have to talk to someone while you are there to help you. This is what I was told at the front desk of the hotel we stayed at as well.

Im thinking this is what I'll end up having to do and just wing it. Where is the fun in being predictable?

I like your idea of proposal on the beach during wishes. Have you been to the Polynesian? The beach over there is very nice and you have a perfect view of the castle and wishes. (We stayed there for a week last year and watched the show most nights from the beach.) they even pipe in the music from the show. Also, you can get a cocktail from the bar and take it outside. I am sure they would have champagne if you wanted to get some (or you could bring your own). You can take a boat from Fort Wilderness to the Poly.

Just another thought. At the Japan pavilion in Epcot, the gift shop has a thing where you can choose an oyster and they open it for you and present you with the pearl. (check out some videos on u tube for a better idea.) You could get an oyster ahead of time and slip the ring in. Then they could open it for her and have her help find the "pearl." It would definitely be a surprise!

There was no fun. I was so nervous that my idea wouldn't come to life. Disney really came though.
Another way I heard that I wish I could have done was a way to have a scuba diver at the Coral Reef in Epcot hold a sign up for you while you are dining.
You could probably search the forums here and find more on it.

i know you were talking about something different, however something to consider if you propose at the MK is to utilize a photopass photographer. i proposed 2 years ago after wishes at the rose garden. before stepping up to take our picture i gave the photographer a heads up what i was going to do. the wife thought i was explaining how our camera operates. the photopass person took about 5-6 actions shots with her camera, and a few with ours. it was nice to have that memory caught on film. just a thought and good luck. just remember whatever you do she'll love it.

When I spoke to a photopass person they told me they dont take pictures during the fireworks. However, once I got someone else involved in helping me get onto the rose garden they had the photopass photographer set up to take before, during and after pictures. Its like I said earlier. It all depends on who you talk to.

I think this is such a cute idea - having the photopass photographer capture the moment. Love it!

When I proposed (granted, this was in 2002), Disney had an Engagement Center that would help you plan the proposal. It did cost, but they had options in a wide range of prices. I had a Rose Garden package - they had the garden roped off before the fireworks and on the dock, they setup a Victorian loveseat, sparkling cider (no alcohol in the park!), chocolates, roses, etc. We received an "invitation" when we checked in at the hotel to attend a private dessert reception - that was the cover to get us there. Once we were down there, I was able to pop the question, we toasted and were able to sit in private and watch the fireworks. We got engagement pins, wedding ears, etc.....that's the "Readers' Digest" version of the evening! Overall it was perfect - we had our best friends with us who took pics and video taped the whole thing. I had heard a rumor that this service was discontinued, but I'm not sure. I found them by calling the Fairytale Weddings department was was routed to the engagement center.

Good luck! :sohappy:

Do you remember where you found the number to this? A woman today started to give me the number to an engagement line but my phone died right in the middle of it... It started 407-814-4... If anyone can help me I will greatly appreciate it forever.
