You could walk from the Downtown Disney Market Place bus parking by walking along the street (E. Buena Vista Drive) towards Saratoga Springs. You will run out of side walk, but you can walk on the grass and then cross over the street at the Fire Station. A safer, but slightly longer route would be to walk across the street (at the crosswalk by the toy store) over to the Wyndham Palace. Walk via the parking lot along E. Buena Vista Drive to the Fire Station. From the bus load zone it should take you less that 8 minutes walking. Click or copy this link for a map. The big red star is the fire station.

Sorry Cara, but Ive been away for a few days, so forgive the lateness of this post. I'm glad to hear that your particular Union has been instrumental over the years in getting you fair pay for your job. I would like to think that some of that is based on the "market value" of the job as well. As are most jobs in corporate america these days. And within those Unions are individuals who band together for a common cause. It may be splitting hairs here, but I believe that it's those individuals (members) who truly deserve the credit. It's thru their solidarity that they were able to accomplish these things together. I'm not so sure that they/you NEED Union leadership in order to do that. Individuals could organize on their own and reach the same goals. I'm glad to see what the pay scale for you is now, and I am also encouraged by the discussion about pay scales/death benefits for those in uniform that's been raised lately.

Now, on to BG. Oh BG. First of all, you don't know that I am NOT from Texas, and just moved here just over 2 years ago. So, while you may THINK you can judge me by my geographic location, you would be WRONG!!!! You seem to agree with my view on the pay scales for fast food, while at the same time attempting to somehow discredit me for being from Texas. Again NOT FROM TEXAS. So, maybe it's YOU who has the problem here and NOT ME!!! Now, I'm not going to turn this discussion political as I have been BLASTED for having merely commented on politics here when it's been OTHERS who have fired the first shot, and I've merely attempted to defend my positions and beliefs.

Let's stay on topic please.

Thanks,

Brian

Fellas ease up a bit. The fact that you're from Texas is irrelavent and making an issue of it is unnecesary (sp). Both of you bring up good points about pros/cons of labor unions, and to be honest you both are right and you are both wrong in answering a question that has no answer. The purpose of this thread is to help my brothers at the RCFD get treated fairly. Lets just continue speak out to ensure that they guys, who will always be underpaid for what they do, continue to get what they need support themselves and their families.

You're right, of course. Being actively involved in politics, whenever something like that pops up I get all fired up. Now I know why we're supposed to stay away from the stuff on here  I really hope your fellow firefighters continue to be safe and get what they need. I apologize for my part in getting off track.
