140520.I couldn't even think of anything mean enough to write. Bahaha. She's pathetic though, although she's not the first big name to lip sync (Madonna, Janet Jackson) I don't think her voice is good either on her album or live.

I think they tunes are catchy enough. Nothing ground breaking there, but pleasent. I haven't been subjected to a media onslaught by her yet though.

Although, I doubt it will make a heap of difference in the long run, Ashlee Simpson MUST be notified about how much she is unliked.

This petition is pathetic. Look at all the worthwhile, truly terrible things in the world that people COULD be trying to stop and someone makes a petition about stopping Ashlee Simpson. I'm a fan of Ashlee's. I got her cd for Christmas and I've been playing it a lot more than my other cd's lately. But my being a fan of her and her music has nothing to do with my opinion on this petition. There's lots of musical artists that I wish would just go away (for example, almost every rapper, Christina Agulara (or however you spell that), Usher, Metallica...I'm sure there's others...) but I'm not going to make or sign a petition to make them "stop" what they're doing for a few reasons: A.) no one said I HAD to listen to them in the first place...if they come on the radio, I change stations, if they come on tv, I change the channel...it's as easy as pushing a button. and B.) I know that somewhere out there, they have fans who actually get something out of their music. I don't want to step on those fans' toes just like I wouldn't want anyone else to step on mine. What happened to America being the "land of the free" anyway? (and I know someone's going to try to be a smart a** and say something like "Ashlee's free to do whatever she wants, as long as it's not singing." So now you don't have to say it :animwink: )
As for what AI's Simon would think, I wondered the same thing (after all, I'd be the first to admit that Ashlee isn't the BEST singer in the world...but I still like her). But I heard that he actually supports Ashlee, but he can't stand Beyoncee Knowles(sp?)....go figure :veryconfu

Theres a difference between Ashlee and the other acts you mentioned that being talent...and the fact the only reason she has a record out right now is because her sister is jessica simpson

Some people may view those "acts" as being talent...I view them as being crap music. It's all in perception. I consider The Beatles to be the best musical group in history, hands down. Other people can't stand listening to them. I personally don't understand that, but I respect it just as I can respect people finding those other "acts" as talent.
I actually like Ashlee's music a whole lot better than Jessica's. I think Jessica over sings everything. Maybe I just relate to Ashlee more because I'm also the younger, rebellous sister who's been stuck in my sister's shadow since the day I was born. Still, I think Ashlee's music is truer and more genuine. Maybe it's true that she only has a record because her sister is Jessica...that's no reason to hate her or her music.
Out of all the music to attack, though, why hasn't anyone gone after Bjork? I've tried listening to her to see what all the hype was, but my ears just couldn't take the torture.

I don't hate her because she got a record deal, I hate her because she is completely untalented, she has no musical ability, shes TONE deaf...she cannot sing, at least Jessica can sing...Bjork on the other hand isn't just touted because of the music, shes also a photographer, and artist, and i think that her music, though different, is still amazing, but thats probably because i know more of her background...

I'm in no way trying to make this a personal attack on your opinion (just so you know :animwink: ) . I could care less if anyone hates her or doesn't hate her, so I completely respect that you don't like her. But I still think it's completely stupid and a waste of time to make a petition about such a thing. Honestly, if you (generally speaking) don't like a person's music, just don't listen to them. I've yet to see anyone being forced to listen to Ashlee sing, so I don't see why a petition is neccessary.

I look at it this way: anyone with any wits about them knows that an internet petition isn't going to stop anything. However, the act of signing it is just one way of speaking out and saying "I can't stand her and/or her music."

And some of us have been in situations where we couldn't get away from it. Way back when she was just starting out, she signed onto a gig here at SeaWorld, to perform at one of our "Club SeaWorld" events. Then she got popular. Once she got popular, she decided that she was too good for playing a free gig at SeaWorld, and tried to back out of it. SeaWorld said nope, she had signed a contract. So she came and did her gig at the park, and basically made our lives a living hell that day. What's worse, we had to be around, for crowd control, and had to hear it. No escape, and she was a little brat. So no, I don't have any respect for her.

Jessica Simpson is only popular right now because she is living off of her dumb blonde moments on her tv show. Ashlee Simpson is only popular right now because of her sister. I'd prefer Jessica's singing over Ashlee's any day but personally, I don't care for either of them. Ashlee blaming her SNL screw up on acid reflux. Give me a break. I was flipping through the tv this morning when I came across her show on MTV. She was singing on some award show. Ashlee was right, she sounded horrible. Her album success was because of the hype around her sister. She was dragging behind her sisters coattails.

About the petition...I clicked on the petition and laughed. Yeah, there are a lot of bad things in this world that we can try to stop (I tried in Nov but to no avail Before I get jumped on for that comment....JUST KIDDING), but I see this petition as just a funny thing. No I didn't sign it, but I don't have a problem if other people want to, I think it's kind of funny. I still say even if you like or don't like her music, if she was my daughter I would be ashamed of her for how she acts and treats others...Thank God she isn't mine!
