Help me pack - How is the weather in November?

Hey Everyone!

So we are currently 80 days out before our next Magical Vacation! We are going Nov 16-25. We live in NYC and by the time we go it will be quite chilly here. I am not sure on how to pack for Disney. It will be our first time going during this time so i'm not 100% sure of how the weather typically is. I looked online and they do say high is about 80, with low in the upper 50's/low 60-'s. So do i just wear shorts and pack jackets for everyone? Will it be warm enough for shorts? All summer clothes are going on clearance - and the kids clothes are super inexpensive - so I wanna pick some stuff up. So for those that have gone around that time - what did you pack? what did you wear?

Thanks!

In a word...perfect.

I'm from Long Island - and we typically go in November every year. There is VERY little rain (if any) and we typically wear shorts/t shirts with a light jacket when we leave in the morning and shed the jacket by 10AM. I usually bring jeans to wear at night but rarely wear them - you are doing so much walking that you really don't get chilled.

That's wonderful! I was hoping that it would be like that! I;ve gone in Sept/Oct and the humidity and heat is unbearable - if not for short lines I'd die! I mostly ask for my kids - one will be 6 and the other 9 months when we go. The baby is easy...since he'll be in the stroller - a blanket and he is good. Just glad i can pack some nice summer clothes while we leave the cold for a week! lol

A few days before you go, you may want to consult this site, which will account for the local weather forecast, and adjust accordingly if the weather is unseasonably warm or cold: http://www.vacationpacker.com/

It's been a handy tool for us in the past. However, as a fellow resident of New York, and used to bitterly cold winters, I find that the vacationpacker recommendation typically adds one more item than I need to be comfortable in Florida. (e.g., long sleeves and long pants when I'd feel fine in long sleeves and shorts).

If I think of it - when we have a similar day I'll post and let you know.

The fall and winter is tricky for packing in FL. I have been Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec. Sept - Rain. Loads of it. Oct - humid. Nov - FREEZING. Dec - dying of heat.

So basically, it depends on the year and pack layers. You will have a better idea closer to your departure date. When we traveled to WDW, we first went in Dec, then Oct, and then Nove. Dec when we went was so humid it was awful!!!!!!!! Ridiculous! From what I have been told, that is uncommon. When we went the next year in Oct, we lived on HHI in SC so we were able to guage the weather and it was pretty standard. Humid bc of the rain but after the rain it was very pleasant. We then went in November. And after the two prior years, we headed down from HHI and thought we packed right. But we were SO wrong! We had to buy mittens! NOT kidding! It was so cold. That being said, again, apparently uncommon.

Its hard to pack but if you have a typical season in November, it should be very pleasant. Warm sunny days and cool crisp evenings. I would pack layers. A tank top and capris with cardigan or a denim jacket. That kind of stuff. Bring a jacket just in case. We didn't. So cold. :)

Thanks for all the advice guys!! I really am gonna have too wait till we get closer and see what's predicted...it's just so hard for me because I tend to pack so in advance  @NYwdwfan that would be great! I know a few weeks ago we had some nice weather in the 70's which was great...and the hubby and i were saying how perfect it would be if it was like that when we went to Disney. I know when we go it'll be dark by 5..so it will totally be chillier than normal due to that. I guess i'll do what I normally do anyways - OVER PACK! lol:happy:

It's been EXACTLY like that - my mom actually said to me it "feels like Disney weather". While you THINK it will be chilly - all the walking really negates the chill.

That would be PERFECTION if it would be exactly like that! It needs to be really cold for me to be chilly. Our first family trip was in March of 2009 - perfect weather we had!! You don't feel like you are going to melt! Regardless of the weather - we'll be in DISNEY!!! :):joyfull: what more can we ask for! lol

We went in November during Thanksgiving week a few years ago.
The weather was great!
Wore shorts & short sleeve shirts during the day, but could wear long pants & even a jacket at night sometimes.

We went the first week of November in 2008. The day we arrived, it was actually warmer at home in Ohio than it was in Florida!! The rest of the week we were able to wear shorts though!! Have a great trip! We will be there Nov. 19-23.

I'd check out weather.com just before your trip for the following 10 days and that will give you an idea. Meanwhile, I'd plan on mostly shorts and tees during the daytime and perhaps a pair or two of jeans for evenings although it may still be to warm for them. Bring one jacket/sweatshirt.

It's a bit like September in NYC. Can be hot, can be cold...and that can vary from day to day. No way we can predict it this far out. Sorry!

Check the weather before you leave and bring a jacket even if it says it will be hot all the time. You don't want to pay -$60 for a windbreaker at WDW. (Or maybe you do, lol, in which case you should! :))

There isn't usually much rain in November. But until today, I think it rained every day but two all spring and summer, so who knows what will happen. We've had so much rain it's like there is no end in sight, lol. But November is usually not rainy at all. :)

We went the week after Thanksgiving last year. My chill prone wife wore a sweatshirt every night. I went with shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt and was fine. During the day i wore short sleeves. The weather can fluctuate a great deal. As mentioned above check the weather close to your travel dates and throw and extra layer in the bag just in case.
