I don't know which moderate resort should our family take I was thinking Port Orleans French Quarter! Because our family didn't stay in this hotel!

I would prefer POFQ but any one is better than CS. I saw you mention that it would be $94 a night during your stay, if you an passholder it is only $89 so be sure you get the best possible deal.

You can not go wrong with either of the Port Orleans resorts. The theming is great and the resort layouts are a million times better than CS or CBR. Water access to DTD is also a big plus. The biggest problem with both CS and CBR is their sheer size. If you are located in a building adjacent to the food court and main pool its no big deal but chances are you will have a 20 minute one way walk to the food court.

We have been to Disney 10+ times. We have stayed at Coronado (1); Animal Kingdom Lodge (1) and Caribbean multiple times. We live on the northshore of New Orleans and have NO interest in staying anywhere that is themed after New Orleans!! We love the CR and have never had a bad experience there. The people are friendly, the food court is fine for our needs and the theme is great. It is newly renovated and we stayed there in 9/08 and was extremely nice. We were in Barbados and tho far from the the food court (we had a 82 and 83 year old) it was very easy to jump in the car and drive them to the food court. Janine

PS: the longest we waited for a bus to the parks was 10 minutes. Most waits were under 5 minutes!!! Janine

Just throwing in my 2 cents (which in this economy is worth less than that) but my family and I just got back from staying at the Coronado Springs and it was FANTASTIC!!!

I cannot say enough nice things about that resort. My fiance and I usually stay at the Pop Century and we caught a deal on the Springs that made it cheaper to stay there than the Pop so we jumped at it and WOW!!! It's worth the look if you haven't made it over there. Plus if you have the dining plan like we did their food court is seriously second to none. The Pepper Court I think it was? You could get a great steak there and the staff was BEYOND courteous. The Pop Century staff is great but you can tell they are a bit overworked and it shows sometimes. The Coronado is huge and beautiful and the pool is divine. Too bad it was a bit too cold to try it out for us but the trams they have are covered so we took those and it gives you a great chance to see the place in all it's splendor.

But as it was said earlier it's hard to know where is the best without knowing the party's guest compliment. The bar at Coronado is pretty cool if you have people into that and the bus stops (multiple...take THAT Pop Century) are quick and decent. Plus you are literally across the street from MGM (which I will still call it that btw) and Epcot is close so the bus ride itself is not too long but then again ALL of the moderates can boast that.

No matter what you choose you will have fun there I guarantee it. I haven't stayed at any of the others but I know you'll enjoy it. Just wanted to show the Springs a little love.

No question...French Quarter!!!

We just got back from 9 days at Riverside, and there is NO comparison as to which is better!!!

French quarter is far superior in customer service, I love the older lady who walks around the Food Court celebrating Birthdays and giving out beads, the atmosphere, and I stayed in alligator bayou and could not appreciate the room décor. But the number one thing that I could not stand was how spread out everything is at Riverside. We were lucky that we bummed a lot of rides in golf carts, because the walk from the car and busses was easily around 5 minutes.

Sorry for the rant, but the stay at Riverside and the circumstances that occurred on my trip nearly ruined it for me and my whole family.

I agree with you! VT GAL Port Orleans French Quarter hands down!

So glad you liked CSR. It is our favorite resort and we have no desire to stay anywhere else. Tried to get a room for the 4/3 deal as a surprise for son for his 21st birthday (he's been complaining that he hasn't been since 2000), but we couldn't get a room at CSR--all booked--for his spring break dates. So we're holding off until we can get CSR.

If I could guarentee Aligator Bayou, I'd choose Riverside. If not, I'd choose French Quarter. I really like Caribbean Beach, but it's just too big and difficult to get around. Coronado Springs holds zero appeal to me.

My favorite was Riverside, UNTIL I stayed at POFQ this past November and just fell in love. I will be going back to French Quarter every year from now on. The resort size is just right..not big at all. No matter which building you are in, you are close to everything...pool, foodcourt, boat dock, bus stop. The theme is gorgeous. The rooms are a good size with a small fridge. Everytime I came back from the parks to relax, I ended up taking a walk around the resort to take pictures and look around. I love the pastel colors of the buildings...this resort really is beautiful. I love Riverside also, but it is really large in size...but I do think it is a bit cozier theming wise.

I just got back from a 5 day trip at the French Quarter and thought it was a fantastic resort. I loved the closeness of it all. Nothing was that far away.

RIVERSIDE WAS FANTASIC!!!!

We stayed the week of Dec. 13-20 and loved it. For a moderate, it has a lot going for it:
- boat ride to Downtown Disney
- carriage rids
- boat & bike rentals
- big (noisy) arcade
- nice store
- good foodcourt
- *** Bob Jackson (www.yehaabob.com) Tuesday-Sunday, is well worth the time to go see, for young and old alike.
- room size in our case 2 adults, 2 kids was plenty big enough, especially since we spent most of our time at the parks.
- swimming pool was nice enough for the kids
- beautiful resort

OTHER REASONS:
- bus waits were short (and with a father in a motorized scooter, transportation to and from parks was extremely short - making it a nice location to stay)

POFQ was ideal for my family. We stayed here for seven nights in September. Here is the review I posted on www.allearsnet.com:

My family of four stayed at POFQ for a full week September 6 -13 and had a wonderful experience.

My wife and I have two small children (a 3.5 yr old daughter and a son who turned 5 during our stay). This is my family’s third trip to WDW having previously stayed at All Star Movies in 2006 and Pop Century in 2007. Although we enjoyed both Pop and ASMo, we found POFQ to be far better for our family in many ways.

First, my family very much appreciated the fact that FOFQ is much smaller and more compact. We never had a long walk and never had a long wait (note that all our my family’s trips have been during September). Pop is exciting and fun, but the crowds at the food court and the queue lines for buses were more difficult to manage for my wife and I with our little ones.

Check in was very easy and efficient and the service at the front desk and concierge throughout our trip was excellent. Mousekeeping and the service at the food court and the gift shop were excellent as well.

Our room was clean and just as we requested. In comparison to the value resorts, my family enjoyed having a bit more space and the double sinks and privacy curtain in the bathroom was a nice feature. Also, we took full advantage of the refrigerator and kept it stocked with bottled water, snack and juices.

The pool area was perfect for the kids as was the playground. The very well maintained grounds were even more compact than I thought, but the more adult areas, such as the whirlpool spa were kept separate from the kid areas. The boat service to downtown Disney was also very nice.

Overall, my family thought the extra money spent on upgrading to the moderate resort was well worth it. POFQ has a great “Disney” atmosphere and my family very much enjoyed the fact that it is a less hectic and less crowded than the value resorts we have stayed at. I would definitely stay at POFQ again and would recommend it to friends and family.

This question can't be answered without knowing who is traveling with you -- POFQ is where I stay every time, but we have no kids. It is by far the most adult oriented of the moderate resorts, who prefer it to be quieter. If you have kids that need entertaining (i.e. things to do outside of your room) Riverside is a better idea.

I agree with you 100%... DH and I just spent a romantic weekend at POFQ. The BEST! Stayed at POR when we went with the kids:)

Well, we have stayed at all of those but FQ so if given the choice, that is where we'd stay. We like to try them all.

Of the other three we have stayed at, I liked CS the best. Yes, it was large but the theming was great, loved the grounds, the pool was awesome and the food was good.

Honestly, we have never had a problem at any mod so I really don't think you could go wrong with them.
