I don't know which moderate resort should our family take I was thinking Port Orleans French Quarter! Because our family didn't stay in this hotel!

Have stayed at each of the moderates except for FQ. My family of 5 has enjoyed staying at POR. Other trips didn't involve whole family, but we have chosen POR over deluxe opportunities because it is a great value for us, especially when we last stayed in the Alligator Bayou area!

Hello, this is my first post. forgive the name. its late and i couldnt think of anything clever. i'm gonna give the run down of why the coronado springs resort is the best moderate resort value going. ive stayed at all the moderates and the PO is great but i feel that CSR is a bit better and heres why...

it is essentially a business class hotel which to me puts it slightly above the other moderates in terms of amenities (lounges, fitness center, salon, etc). now some ppl dont want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the yuppie armies (conventions) that invade that place, but going in January (which is the BEST time to go to disney...low temp, low crowds, low costs= win, win, win) but i find their presence to be minimal unless you go into the convention center areas. most of the conventioners have food provided in their events so i rarely see them in the restaurants even. my point is the fact that its disneys big convention hotel never crosses my mind when i stay there and ive stayed there almost every january for the past 6-7 years.

another "advantage" of the CSR/business class argument in my mind is that well its filled with business guys. most of them dont even like disney so they dont enjoy the resort and are generally away from us. they are also solo or with other work peers and there are less kids (im a big adult kid and generally go with my gf so we like the reduced "kid factor" at our hotel vs. the value resorts which whenever i visit there seem like lord of the flies at the pool areas).

on the subject of the pool areas, the CSR has one of the most charming themed pool areas in the entire "world". it really should be visited even if you dont stay. the hot tub area is also better as it is a 10-12 person tub as opposed to the other moderates (at least compared to when i stayed at the others in the early 2000s) the reduced kid factor is also an advantage here. note to parents reading: i know its disney but the hot tub is not the kiddie pool. and as a social worker youre not winning parent of the year by taking your infant into the hot tub which i see often. please dont cook your baby in front of me. thanks.

next, the food situation is way better. the pepper market is better version of the food courts you find at PO or CBR. the maya grill has one of the better non-char breakfast buffets that i have found on the grounds. ppl scoff at the cost but it doesnt add up. the cost of the buffet is 17 which includes beverages. if i have an egg platter with a juice and a milk at a food court, it will easily approach that figure and with the buffet i can have cereal and fresh fruit to boot as well as seconds on the eggs. i know im a guy so i eat more but really its a deal.

the transportation is as good as any other resort i think as it has 4 bus stops. ive never really seen a crowd at anytime at any stop other than the lobby stop in all my years.

next, the CSR is undergoing a refurb this year with new fixtures, bigger beds, and flat screen TVs in the rooms which i think supports my "business class" theory.

thats all i can think at the moment and ive probably made enough enemies so ill quit. as a side note, im thankful for any disney trip ive ever been on and i work very hard as a social worker to go on said trips.

im less than 30 days away from my trip so ill see you there!!

I think its important to have a car at moderate resort. FQ is probably the most doable without one, but these resorts are so large the bus system is sure to go wrong. I like having the freedom to move around on my own terms. CBR is great because you have a tropical feel w/o paying the price of the Polynesian. Now that the rooms are being renovated I think it makes the CBR much more appealing. POR is well themed and has a great food court. CS and FQ I don't care for because their themes are boring to me. Have fun on your trip.

I have stayed at all the moderates. My favorite is POFQ! Then CBR, POR and lastly CSR. POFQ - love the theme, boat ride to DTD, small resort that is very easy to navigate and bus service starts here. CBR - love the theming but have always used a car vs. buses from here. POR is nice - just not that crazy on the theming - I am more of a beach lover - that is all. enjoy your stay!!:D

Just got back from Coronado and loved it. The pool looked great and there were a number of rentals - I'm too much of a park junkie to spend much time there. I was impressed that my bus was never so full I had to stand, transportation was very close, the newly renovated rooms were beautiful and it was extremely quiet!
