I was wondering about Magical Express also.

I like to buy autograph books and T-shirts beforehand so you are ready to go first thing when you get there. I hate having to scramble to buy an atugraph book because my girls always seem to see a character they want to talk to first thing.

Do you want to surprise your son beforehand? I have heard of people doing a scavenger hunt with clues slowly revealing they were going to Disney. If you want to wait until the day of, you can have his bag already packed and loaded then just drive to the airport and reveal you are going to Disney. That would be super fun!

Do you have your packing lists complete?
Are you using Magical Express?
Do you have your autograph books and pen?
Do you have all of your camera and accessories ready?
Are you doing anything at the parks for a surprise - ie Pirates League? If so, make that reservation.

I always do a photo book for an autograph book. I go to shutterfly and make a book with photo of my son and the characters from the previous trip and then the characters sign on the book. The characters love it.

I do want to surprise him before...or maybe even the day of. I can't do a scavenger hunt b/c we watched those on youtube and he'd know right away what was going on. Thanks for the idea though.

I've started the packing list. I'm a little overwhelmed with it right now. We are going for 9 days and I haven't had to back for that long before. I'm trying to only do one suitcase or maybe mail stuff and just do carryon...not sure. The airport here is a nightmare.
Looking for a new camera actually.
Haven't done Pirate League before. I'll look into that.

For the surprise - I thought of this last night. Do you have the Disney Hedbanz game? You can make an overlay on one of the cards that has a picture of the castle and the words "You're Going to Disneyworld?". When he exhausts his guesses tell him to look at the card!

I like to plan some counter services ahead of time. Of course you can't "book" these places - but I like to look over the menus of each CS in each park so that you know that ahead of time. This way you wouldn't have to pop into each restaurant to read a full menu OR just settle for whatever you're closest to. Then again - I'm a constant planner. I even made a checklist of food/snacks/drinks that I plan to eat/drink while I'm down there. In my mind - there is no such thing as over planning!

Once we get there - plans often change depending on crowd predictions, weather, general feeling, etc...but I like to have a solid idea of what I'm going to do while down there.

Great idea... I usually look at CS meals too but I haven't yet. Thanks.

Enchanted Call is a service where you go to the website, pick a character and a theme and then set up a date and time to have the character call you child or love one and give them a message. It is $2.49 and worth every scent when you see your child's face. I have Mickey calling my son to wish him a happy holiday while we are sitting at the airport waiting to get on the flight to Orlando, which will be only an hour or so since he was told we are going. I can't wait.

I've never pack for this long of a stay... I"m thinking of mailing stuff to the resort and skip the check baggage issue.

I can't help you with your decision. We don't fly much. Are you talking about clothes (Clothes don't weight much.) or toiletries and food? Are you going to do laundry while you're there? That might cut down on the amount of clothes you need to take. Would you need to mail the box back (if you're not packing disposable items)?

Hmmm...I'll go through my list of things (not including what you'vementioned) and see if that sparks anything: Normally I go get and pack my own "light up toys" so that my kids don't ask me to spend $15 on a toy in the park (like those toys they have for parades). I also pack s'mores stuff for Chip and Dales campout. The other thing I always make sure to have is extra contacts (I always bring an extra few pairs when I travel in case I lose one) which typiaclly means I have to go see the eye doctor before we go so that I can get more. I also usually get t-shirts for the kids with characters already on them so that I don't have to buy as many clothes in WDW and I usually get them a new pair of sandles/shoes too. I also go get goodies for their check on luggage and I download some movies to the ipad (which takes like a week, seriously ..takes forever!). This year I got a new backpack to help with carrying things through the parks. I also got each of hte kids their own water bottles so that they could have that in the parks with them...hmm..trying to think if there's anything else? Oh! If you have a stroller did you get a rain poncho for it? Also, did you get ponchos for yourselves? They are way cheaper at Target than at WDW and you can get ones with characters on them. Ok - that's enough. If I think of something else that may be crucial I'll post it!

We surprised my son.... the morning of (as a matter of fact he had 2 hours to get it through his head we were going) I packed everything up a few days before. Do you have pets? I claim to be the Queen of all things Disney in my household, yet the one thing that I panic about is I didn't give myself enough time to book my furry loved ones in the Canine Condos. You seem to have covered all the bases, but if you're anything like me, I second guess myself right up until I walk out the door heading for the airport.
