I have zero interest in typing an argument, and hesitate here, but, good grief, I clearly stated I wasn't judging ANYBODY!

Um, saying I was teaching my daughter to lie wasn't judging me? What would you call it?

We were going to try to do that, but we could not find a pair in a color to match the top hat we got her to wear on vacation. :animwink:

Good idea but they (the evil Disney CM's that measure (j/K)) often ask young children to remove headwear. However, they may not ask anyone to remove footwear. :)

I enjoy your sense of humor!

I DID NOT SAY THAT!
In no way at any time at any point in any post that I have made on this topic!

Now, in rereading the thread, I see that it wasn't you that made the folded paper towel comment, putting the ponytail up, or any others like that. I'll admit, I don't always pay close attention to who writes what, for the most part, so sorry for that oversight. Plus it's been a few days since the thread was started, so I probably wouldn't have remembered who said what anyway.

Therefore, I'll restate. On mouseplanet, the minute anyone does make that type of suggestion (i.e. paper towels, ponytails, cowboy boots, hover shoes), there is a flood of posts about how that's teaching kids to lie...etc. That didn't happen here, and I thought that was interesting, that's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

The Grateful Dead used to do a song called "And We Bid You Goodnight", and the audience clapped along with the chorus. But on the west coast, they clapped differently than on the east coast. I find that interesting, too.

That said, I still think I was very clear in stating that the three of us, me, myself and I, were not judging anyone on either board. Just commenting on how different groups of similar people don't always respond the same way. Nothing more, nothing less.

I bid you goodnight.

We are here to help & freely exchange ideas...thats one of the things I love about this place. If I offend anyone I apologize immediately, thats just my nature. Some people like to pick fights, (no one in this thread come to mind. :) ) I stay away from them. I try NOT to judge...or at least post that judgement for all to see. (again, thats just me) If I have a problem I'll pm ya and let you know.(we'll argue in private).

I don't think stretching a quarter inch is wrong and I've had to deal with crying, disappointed kids on line myself (so I know how you feel). Some people have longer legs others have longer torsos...I don't think anyone is advocating endangering our kids lives to get on a silly ride. (my .02 )

As always if you have anymore questions just ask...I'm here to try & help.

Ahem... just to clarify because I'm feeling a little defensive...I was the one with the pony tail idea and I said my daughter made the height restriction but because of the slope it was touchy for a moment. The ponytail just made it all go more smoothly!:D

But I know no one is judging anyone!:D

And I was the one with the folded paper towel idea. It has worked for kids that have been with me. I'm not saying to add a huge height to them. Just a nudge.

be careful...

some do and some don't also some do yell and some will politly say she isn't tall enough or you got my friends who are push overs they either let you through or you have to answer this really simple disney quiz question and they'll let her on. my friends are funny like that. also its not 40 inches anymore hasn't been for a while its 48 which is truly insane but you know rules are rules.

We're bringing a special pair of shoes and putting them in the stroller for those rides my 6 year old just barely misses. He's a little shy of the RnR height with his tennis shoes on. I can't handle the disappointment again. The thick soled sandals will give him the little additional lift he needs.

2 years ago, my then 8 year old was literally 1/8 of an inch too short to ride RRC. They put the black stick over his head which I buzzed for the summer and it literaly brushed this tips of his hair, but since it didnt "HIT" his head, he could not go on. Furious with a hysterical 8 year old, I was forced to take him to the rest room, stuff his gym shoes with toilet paper and try again. And he was wisked on the ride!!!!

Also, same trip, going on that dumb roller coaster coney island ride at AK, we had again the same issue. This time he had Berkinstocks on so I had to think quickly.....purchased socks and stuffed away.....after arguing with a "manager" for about 20 minutes....I had them bring out a 'actual' tape measure to measure their stick and the wall ruler for acuracy because at home he measured 44 inches....they measured and admited that they were off just a "hair"....and that he was tall enough to ride the ride......for the love of god!

Now, here me out....do you really think that less than an 1/8 of an inch is going to keep him from falling out of a ride or getting hurt?? If that is the case then I question the safety of ALL rides!
I think its just obsured that a girl with 2 inch bottoms on her gym shoes doesnt get a second look when she is seriously "UNDER" the height restriction and a boy in sandles gets sent away crying! Where is the Disney magic there?

Needless to say, we did recieve an appology from the AK manager and were given a fast pass to the sold out and LONG line of Killamajaro Safari. I would of perfered not having to go through these hoops to get my son on the ride then to get the stupid fast pass......that wasnt EVER my point.

Thank goodness, we dont have the issue any more, but to those of you out there with young ones .....just bearly to that height point...seriously consider the shoes they will be wearing and the hair cut you give your child....it can make or break thier vacation.

Ok,

I just measured my daughter with her shoes on. She will clear it by about 1/4 inch, whew!

Now I just need to convince my wife on which 40 inch rides are ok for her.

We both decided no, ToT because if she gets too scared she will never ride it again.

Splash we are both OK with.

My wife is pushing back on Big Thunder

The last couple I can think of are Test Track and Dinosuar. Does anyone have any input on those being suitable for a 40 1/4 3 year old. And just 3 in November.

Also, are there any I missed and if so what are your feelings on suitability for her?

Thanks,
Mike

HI Mike!

Here's my input on the rides.

Big Thunder is definately less scary than Splash. Test Track she should be ok on. NO to Dinosaur. Kali River Rapids will be ok. Honey I shrunk the audience, have her pick her feet up on the seat. (sit indian style) NO to ToT. NO to It's tough to be a bug. I saw SOOOO Many young kids crying and screaming at this show. It's way too intense for young kids.

I don't think I forgot any that are around the 40 inch ride restriction.

Have a WONDERFUL time MIKE!

Pam

I just want to add something about RnRC. The reason why Disney imposes the height restriction is because of the safety restraint that comes down over your shoulders. If you child is not tall enough, the restraint will not do it's job.

My youngest was tall enough to ride this ride when it came out and she still lifted up off the seat. I had to put my leg over hers in order to keep her seated.

Hi Pam,

I totally agree Splash would be more scary than Big Thunder. My wife is just nervous with BT because it is so jerky, she is afraid Fiona will bite her tounge. I am still working her on this one.

Is your reasoning for Dinosaur it being scary or rough?

And thanks again for all your help setting up the trip. We are so excited. Now we have to pray the snow holds off on Friday when we fly out. (fingers crossed?
