Have you unexpectedly seen someone in WDW?

On our 1st trip, we ran into the same family from our hometown 3 times in 4 days.
Last year, another family that we know had told us they postponed their trip. BUt my hubby thought he spied them at Fantasmic and sure enough, they had made it!! It's always fun to see your hometown faces!

With apologies to Casablanca:
"Of all the theme parks in all the towns in all the world, they walk into mine"

We see someone we know every single trip... Last trip was the youth pastor at our church... turns out he's a crazy guy - we rode TT with them and he took off his shirt on Test Track and they blocked the picture... *bangs head*

The trip before that we ran into TWO of my (soon to be ex) husbands Girlfriends... weird.

lol it's always someone...

Two stories:

The first at Disneyland, where I asked was given permission for a cab ride on the railroad. I got to ride in the E.P. Ripley (the same Walt rode on opening day!) and when we returned to Main Street Station met Michael Broggie (son of Roger, the man who built Wlt's railroad). That was cool-

Second from Epcot. My son was there with friends and decided to listen to Voices of Liberty in American Adventures, when he spied a fello carrying a packpack with the name of my old high school, and where his cousin now goes. He asked the guy if that was in Illinois, and when the guy said yes, he told him his cousin's name. The guy said he was her date for homecoming! So my son got out his cell and called his cousin and said "Here's someone who wants to talk to you!" Way cool-

One time, I brought a good friend of mine down to wdw with me, and while we were going down the escalators in MCO someone yelled his name, he looked up, and his aunt and uncle from california were on the escalator right next to us.

Last year I had this group of friends that included myself, and three other people named Megan, Veronica, and Beth.

Well, in August, Veronica, Megan and I went to Epcot as a back to school thing. As our car on Test Track was pulling away from the station, we spotted Beth in line, waiting a little ways back from where we had just been. It was so weird! None of us knew the other was going to be there, and it was just fate that we ended up in the same place at the same time.

It was weird.

Night of Joy 9/8/06 I'm going through the turnstile and this guy accidentally grabbed my ticket instead of his. I'm shouting (was lots of noise) sir, sir you have my ticket and some lady goes " who do you think your yelling at?" I turned around and it was my sister!!! We make eye contact and start screeching!!! Poor CM caught inbetween us is probably still deaf!! It was extra special because I was meeting my other sister and our brother (plus many others) in the park and I didn't know she would be there (imagine meeting walking into the park???). All of my Moms kids were together at Disney on the 5th anniversary of her passing (9/10/01). I'm sure she was smiling!

When we were rushing into MK for an EMH this past easter we accidently and literally, bumped into my cousin and her family. Totally weird! I saw people from school probably at least once per trip, even though I had no idea that they were supposed to be there.

First time... it was July 4, 1976, at the MK fireworks celebration of the US bicentennial... and who was seated on the ground in front of us watching the fireworks but our next door neighbors (we lived in small town Arkansas at the time)- had no idea they were even going to be there that week. At that time, it was one of the busiest days ever at WDW, but it was the only park then, too!

Second time... a few years ago at Christmas, we were getting off ToT and going to view the pictures and my father-in-law's brother was at the picture viewing area having just ridden the ride before us. Another instance of having no idea that he was going to be there.

It really is a small world!

This wasn't actually at Disney World, but I had just arrived at the Orlando airport on my way to the convention center for a trade show, and a woman who looked amazingly like my sister-in law walked by going the other way.

I paused for a moment and told my co-traveler I had to check something out. I turned around and headed in the direction she was walking and saw her, my brother and my niece and nephew waiting to catch their flight back to Pittsburgh from Disney World.

I didn't even know they were going, and if my plane had landed 2 seconds later, I would have passed within 20 feet of them and never known.

In 1999, I ran into a woman I went to law school with while in line waiting to rent a car from Alamo at the airport. She and I had several cases against each other, and were both pregnant in 1987, delivering our babies 4 months apart, and all this time, DIsney never came up in conversation. After that first run in at Alamo, we discovered that we are both disney freaks, but this had never come up in the past. SInce 1999, we see each other in court often, and never say hi, but just say the dates we are going back to the world. then talk and talk about disney. Happily , we have patient clients..lol.

My daughter is now a sophmore at Michigan State, and her son is a freshman at University of Michigan, and just finished working on the Great Movie Ride this summer. Her husband is not that big on going to disney tons of times a year, (they are DVC members), and she mostly went with her son. As my husband passed away in 1998, I always went with my daughter. Now,we figure if the kids decide they are too old to go with us, we can go together.

I babysat for a family from when I was 12 up until they moved away about a year ago. My first day of training, a little girl ran by me, and she looked exactly like the girl I babysat for. I said her name, and she stopped and stared at me...then I noticed her brother and parents as well! They had no idea I was working for Disney, it was a fun little surprise. We went out to dinner and hit a park on my day off. Very random, very unexpected, very fun!!

One year in January, we ran onto Donald Duck at the MK. That was weird, we usually never see him unless it is at a character buffet.

This trip in August was the first vacation I've taken with my niece (7 trips total with her) that we didn't see someone she knew. She has seen her reading specialist, English teacher, softball coach, just to name a few. My son saw a friend from school on the plane down from Chicago and then saw him again on the plane back but they never saw each other while visiting the parks.

Not in Disney World, but on the plane back from our 2003 trip - my very best childhood friend and her husband were in the seats infront of us. They had been at Disney for the same time period we were. They transfered planes in Atlanta to Phil and we transfered to CT.
