This is going to sound really harsh, but no one's plans should have to change for a 90-year-old woman who has had her share of Christmases with her family. Now it is your turn!!!!

The thing that I'm frustrated about is that MIL swore up and down that once she had grandkids that would be the end of the yearly trips to see her mother... well, her mother is great at guilting

Well, maybe not genetic, but a trait she definitely picked up herself! She probably thinks it's normal to guilt people into doing what you want to do.

Life is full of disappointments...am I bummed that right now WHF is helping his uncle (whom I can't stand) work on his radio station? You bet. That means I'm not spending time with him...but you know what...I've found other things to do with my time today and that means I'll enjoy it that much more when he's home. I didn't try to guilt him into staying at home...I told him I was fine and that the sooner he finished, the sooner he could come back.

She apparently didn't learn that life will disappoint you from time to time and that it's ok...but you have to deal with being disappointed and things not going your way.

It was fine....lots of munchkins stopping by for candy, and Mike walked our kiddos all over the neighborhood and got them really worn out. :lol:
