Morning!

Thanks everyone for checking on me. I hate that I worried everyone. I'll know not to be so vague in facebook statuses next time.

So, yeah... a deer attacked us pretty much. We were driving to my parents' house from catering (our second job) at about 8:30 pm or so to pick up our dog. Derek was driving my car. We were talking and I was facing him, about 100 yards from where we turn into my parents' little neighborhood. He had slowed down for the turn and all of a sudden I see a flash of tan outside his side window. Then THUD. The deer hits the driver's-side door and window.

You guys, God was totally looking out for us. Derek does not usually keep calm in situations like this, but something allowed him to stay straight in our lane on the road. If he would have swerved three feet to the right, we would have flipped over into the very steep, rather deep ditch just along the edge of the road. Not to mention the window. I mean, looking at the damage of my car, I can't believe the deer didn't go through that side window. But if it would have... I don't even want to think what would have happened to Derek. The window had some cracks in it, but it didn't even shatter that night! It was remarkable.

Sunday morning we got to see the damage in the daylight. The door's completely busted, the handle won't budge, the mirror is gone. And the window must have been at the brink of breaking that night because that next morning it was shattered and on the groud. The cold air must have caused the final blow.

I was pretty shaken up. Plus... in total girl-fashion, I felt bad for the deer. It was dark, but we did try to look for it. Didn't find it. But with the impact it made...

Anyways... sorry again to worry people. We're okay. DH called insurance and we'll work everything out. I'll just be without a car for a while.

I love you guys and am so blessed to have such amazing, caring friends!
I was worried about the deer also.:lol:
Glad you are okay.
God is soooo good.:sohappy:

KAT!! So glad you're ok, sweets!

And I am going to share your story w/ DH, if you don't mind. I hate driving after dark specifically because I'm so afraid of hitting a deer (we hit one when I was little and it stuck with me ).

Saturday was the beginning of youth/teen hunting season. I guess all the deer in the area get a little spooked. Seriously, that thing came right at us... it was so weird...

Here in Pennsy you have to hit at least one in your lifetime or they revoke your license. True story.

All joking aside, deer accidents can be serious and sometimes fatal. So I am glad everything is okay.

Yeah, go ahead. I hear there's a whistle-like thing you can attach to your car. It's silent to humans, but it's supposed to warn deer that a car is coming.

I always thought hitting a deer would be like on TV. You see it in your headlights, it freezes, you try to swerve to avoid it.... Not that it comes at YOU.

They really don't work too well here. That is what my mom and dad say they have them on their car. But then again they haven't hit a deer either.

Deer get psycho this time of year - I'm so thankful you're okay.

So today here.....Abby's home with a slight tummy bug, Mike went and ran a couple of errands, and we've been discussing Cmas shopping plans for (hopefully) tomorrow.
We also want to start making Joel's costume. :D Mike got the felt for the costume. He's going to turn into the transformer Bumblebee - we hope.

I am okay, my cold is on the way out and I am trying like everything not to loose my voice like I always do. Haha I change my avvy way too often, it was Twilight but then I decided I wanted something Halloween for the week.
