Have you ever considered...?

this is a great theory, but that is what i like to call retirement. when i get old, during the some seasons, i would work and have my grandkids come to flordia for free!!

the only drawfall to this plan is obviously the money and for me, i have to watch the seasons change. In ohio, i have to see leaves fall, snow fall (in the winter), spring come, and summer rain...i have to see this or i'll go crazy!!

Having seen snow fall every month for 36 months in a row... I don't necessarily have to see it any more. I don't so much hate it as just have the attitude of "been there, seen that" and could move on if the opportunity presented...

Hey - are you for real about the snow falling every month for 36?

I was in the military at the time and posted in Inuvik, NWT and Alert, then NWT, now Nunavut. Over the course of three years I saw snow fall at least once every month [granted it didn't always stay, but it did fall]. The summer it didn't actually snow in Inuvik, I was on a six-month tour in Alert and it snowed there briefly on the 2nd of July and again towards the end of August.

It was an odd-ball situation that rarely happens. Even in Alert it gets warm enough that all the snow melts in summer, but the three summers in question had brief cold snaps that were just enough for it to snow a little. Having been in each place when it was happening was an incredible bit of timing.

How completely weird! It kind of snowed here once and a local radio station had a contest where you would write the station's name in the snow and mail a photo. Can't remember what the prize was but I still have a photo of the station's name written in feeble frost.

Trust me on this... You don't want to trade cold-weather experiences with me! :lookaroun

Yeah I know...:(

Surprised you haven't moved but some day!
I actually don't have too much trouble with the cold. I can dress for it. I haven't moved because I have a really great job that I love and it pays very well and here is the only place in the world I can do what I do.

Florida will probably still be there when I retire.

i've often heard from people who used to live there that Orlando was very scary and a huge ghetto....

although i personally would enjoy living somewhere in the central florida area, i'm not too keen on scary ghetto cities...

can anyone who lives nearby confirm/deny?

I've lived in Central Florida nearly all my life,
and it's really not that way at all.
I mean yeah it's got it's rough patches, but doesn't every place?
You just need to know which places they are, and it's fine.
I mean...Walt liked it enough to..well, you know:animwink:
