Have the Love Bugs made their arrival yet?

We leave Saturday and just wanted to know - from anyone who is in the area now - if the Love Bugs are already out in full force.

Oh goodness, I completely forgot about the love bugs...last year I got to experience love bug Season while I was on my college program, but I didn't have a car then. I do now. I've heard horror stories regarding love bugs and cars...any advice???

I was in Florida in early June (North Port/Saratoga area) and they were out full force then and had been for a week at that time.

No sign of them yet on the Gulf Coast side of the state. They've been very sparse over here the last two years.

I was paranoid they were here because of some weird dead bug marks on my car that were a pain to get off... but even though my car is getting a bit icky, I am saving my car wash for the first few days of their arrival...

Last year I had a pair of shorts that I had over 30 crushed bugs on them. I got home and washed them, not all the stains came out. Yuck.

not too bad. If the love bug season ends in september so I doubt we'll have many. It's been too stormy for them this summer.

We had love bugs in June but I have not seen any in over 3 weeks.....I think they are gone for the year. (I hope).

That is the #1 thing that I DO NOT miss about living in Florida. North Carolina doesn't get love bugs thankfully. I remember when I lived in Tampa Bay that there were years it was so bad that they'd somehow get in our fridge!?

FYI ... from Wikipedia.org ..................
To remove love bug remains from your vehicle:
A) Wet the area with the dried bug splatter
B) Rub the affected areas with a dryer sheet
C) Rinse the area with water.
D) Then dry area completely with another dryer sheet

we were there mid to late may (2007) and they were out in full force...hope you have better luck. our weather was excellent, though
