Haunted Mansion to Return with New Enhancements and Magic :(

In museum design, paintings in dimly lit galleries often feature small lights above them to illuminate the work. I’m assuming that with the 19th century technology seen throughout the mansion, an overhead light would be significantly less feasible (see old theatre stage lights being on the ground rather than suspended) and thus the below-painting opera-style sconce.

The lights were from below because they were fire, not exactly something people would place right next to an oil painting. Small pinpoint lights could have been hidden in the ceiling. Of course they could have just let the painting illuminate itself like the old ones.

100% that's Kim. She's a legend but man oh man is she not a voice-over artist.
Honestly folks.. you’re taking this all too literally I think in regards to the voice over. It’s just Kim trying to be fun/silly in theme while talking about the enhancements coming. It’s a short social media based announcement. Not a movie trailer, a full budget commercial, or an actual attempt to be a replacement for the ghost host, Madame Leota, or little Leota. Relax..

I can't wait to see it in person! I like the change to the load area. That always seemed like a weird empty space to me. The screen seems like they are trying to make it feel more like a house and less like a load area.

The one complaint/concern I have is the changed landscaping. I'll reserve judgement until I can see if for myself, but the LA Times article mentioned some cheery stuff for the pet cemetary because "We treated this as we would our own pets". *sigh* The concept of the landscaping was a compromise to Walt not wanting them to build a run-down, derelict building in his theme park. The plants used have foliage of greys and somber tones with weeping growth habit to give you a sense of sadness and foreboding, but still look nice. Roses? Society Garlic that makes purple flowers? Toad lillies that come in lots of bright, fantastic colors? Please tell me they at least planted white ones. :cautious:

This concludes my gardening and plant review. ;)

Yeah, I agree somewhat on that.. at the very least though, I expect the added features to atleast look run down or like they’d been there a long time in reaction to elements, rather than freshly put there. But I imagine even if so, through time they’ll start to look more faded & fitting for the Mansion, if indeed they don’t quite look great in person.

From what i’ve heard from Cast Members is that that area is quite dark. Some that i’ve talked to say they have even requested slightly brighter lights around that area.
Is this something that was said to you recently? Or do you mean that was the sentiment before the refurb?

We’re not taking it too seriously, just making fun and commenting on how awful her voiceover work is.

For real - they almost certainly had her do it solely because of her tie to the project AND to Madame Leota. Surely someone just thought it would be fun to have her end the video by saying ‘Hurry Baaaaack . . .’
