Haunted Mansion Set dinner????

Hey there everyone!!!! I just got done speaking with Pam who asked me to put up this poll. Disney had informed her that we could have a dinner in the Haunted Mansion Set that is currently up at MGM Studios in the back of the park towards Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It could be a pre-plated sit down type of dinner, or a buffet. At least two entertainment Cast Members would be present to play some spooktacular roles and we can add in extras such as a band, DJ, etc. How many people would be interested in going?? Thanks!! Belle

I would most definately like to do this. I am also looking into other things to do for the December Meet.

Please everyone be advised that this is for the December 2004 Meet. If you plan on attending, please vote and please post your reason for your vote so that we have as much input as possible.

I didn't vote as I am not able to go to WDW this December, but that sounds like on of the coolest things I have ever heard! HM is a favorite and a dinner based on that would be great. I hope you guys get to do this and have a wonderful time. Just be sure to report back to us poor people who are stuck at home many, many, many miles away from WDW.

Ok...now I'm thinking of ways to get to WDW in December. I'd have to:
  1. Not eat for 3 months (I need to lose weight anyway),
  2. Skip a house payment (one month? No biggy, right?)
  3. Skip payment on power bill (who needs electricity, I'll be at WDW)
  4. Skip insurance payment (I'm safe, I'll never need it)
Just Kidding!!! Wish I could go, though.

This is all being planned/booked by me. Please keep in mind that if you already have reservation, you can have me take control of it as long as it is not paid in full.

haunted mansion dinner?

I think this sounds excellent. I don't suppose that this dinner would be available in October. Our family will be in WDW this October and would be interested in this dinner.

Will we be able to view the props, even if the dinner isn't available? I am not sure if this is the thread to ask about character dining but I am going to ask a question anyways. Why is it so dang hard to book the breakfast at Cinderella's royal table? I have tried and tried and tried. :brick: It may be easier to book a breakfast at the White House.. :lookaroun It has been quite frustrating to say the least.

That sounds very cool. When would we do it? Pam, I need to talk with you about my reservation. We have decided to go Dec 4-11. We will be arriving late morning on the 4th so we could do either Sat or Sun. How exciting!! I can't wait!

Sorry, in all the excitement I forgot to say why I would like to do this. My husband and I LOVE Haunted Mansion movie! This would be an amazing opportunity to see the set of one of our favorite movies. What a hauntingly good time. I have one request...can we have some cookies?

Hi all, This dinner is a special event that we would be planning on behalf of the board members. This is absolutely available for set up for ANY group that is going to Disney. It is similar to a wedding or any other special event. Once again the price for the event may be prohibitive for one person throwing the whole thing, but among a group of us it may be very be do-able!!!
Hey Disney Wood, yes this "set" is open ot the General Public as part of the items available at MGM. I have toured the set twice thus far. It was very nice and the main area is certainly something to see. Belle

I am assuming that I am out of luck for an October Haunted Mansion set dinner, right? I know that my wife would not allow me to come back to WDW in 3 months. Darn it. :(

I am looking forward to touring the set at MGM though. Better that than nothing at all I guess.

I am not really up on this Disney Wood, but Id call 1-407 WDW Dine and inquire about the Haunted Mansion Dinners in the Magic Kingdom. I know it is aspecial sit down dinner, pretty pricey as I recall from last year. I thought it was pretty cool. I recall reading about it somewhere on this site I believe. Ill do a search and see if I can pull up anything. Belle

Welcome foolish mortals, to an evening of food, music and entertainment in that most ghostly of settings - The Haunted Mansion Movie Set! You, the living, are ushered into the Mansion by the somber chimes of the doorbell, which intones the opening strains of “Grim Grinning Ghosts.” You find it as beautiful as the stories say, but eerily silent. The air is heavy as you proceed into the dining room and behold the Grand Staircase.

Halfway up there is a small landing, home to a massive, ornate pipe organ. It is here that Madame Carlotta, self appointed Mistress of the Manor and hostess for the evening awaits you. At her side is her faithful servant, Broom. The duo are still as statues until Madame, quite suddenly and without warning, releases a blood-curdling scream as her own brand of welcome! After this “greeting” Madame and Broom mingle amongst you, relaying their frightening histories in an attempt to make you feel “at home”.

The dining room has been set for a feast. Milling around readying themselves to attend to your every need, are silent, pale faced servers dressed in formal black and white-they were buried in their best, after all. On an upper landing a ghost band is playing. You can hear their eerie repertoire cutting through the other sounds of the night.

As you are seated to partake of the sumptuous meal, Broom reads the evening’s menu to you, describing each course in detail (perhaps more than you want to know?) Madame circulates to see how everyone is doing and to check an occasional pulse. Once your first course has been delivered by servers from the great beyond, Madame and Broom leave you enjoy the food and conversation with your fellow Guests. They return to announce the dessert course, a specialty of the house that is “to die for.”

As you finish your dessert and the evening winds down, Madame screams again! She is getting “vibrations” from the spirit world. Madame falls into a trance – the spirits are trying to tell her something… you must leave at once! Broom sweeps you out of the mansion, encouraging you to flee for your lives! Unless, of course, you are dying to stay…

You depart this spectral soiree well fed, well entertained, and hopefully, more than a little spooked.

Haunted Mansion

Alright, reading Pam's brief description of this Haunted Mansion movie set dinner got me pretty excited. Like I said before, does anyone know if it is offered in October (it makes since to me due to Halloween)?

I would love to take my wife there for a dinner, as a surprise. I will be calling WDW dining to inquire about this. I will let you know when I get an answer. Thanks.

This is something you would have to contact Disney Events about hosting for a large group, like a wedding or any other special event. Disney Dining 407-WDW-DINE is for Prioirty Seatings at the restuarants.

The WDWMagic MEET is going to be THIS December, 2004. We floated this idea out there to see who would be interested in such, since we will have a bunchy of people attendind during this time frame.

There are other options we are considering though ;) ;) ;)

Because it is the HARDEST thing to book through Disney. There have been many articles and controversy over it. Usually you have to call exactly 90 days out right at 7am when the phone lines open, but it sells out within minutes. It's a matter of luck. Why it is THIS popular is beyond me.

Due to the EXTREME popularity though, they now have added a character breakfast with Princesses over in Norway at Epcot.

Well, I have heard that people often book these in advance knowing that they will not be able to attend, then sell these to other guest. Please say it ain't so.. People making money on character breakfasts? It isn't that important that we go.

I did call WDW Dining about the Haunted Mansion movie set dinner and you are right Kevin, they had no idea what I was talking about. They thought I was crazy. Well, I do wish that I could attend this dinner, but it doesn't look feasible to me. It sounds like a lot of fun.

We are going to the Mickey's backyard BBQ as well as a few character meals inside the parks. Is that pretty fun? We are looking forward to it. Thanks for the help.
