By the by -- if you go on Keys to the Kingdom, you'll likely get to see the building and resivoir backstage.

To add to that:

It's always amazed me how close the ride buildings are to each other - but yet it can take you 10 minutes to walk from HM to Small World! They REALLY did a nice job of space management and simulated environments.

The proximity of the ride buildings backstage is part of efficiency. It takes you 10 minutes to get from HM to IASW. Giving you plenty of time to shop around and buy things to eat, etc. But it only takes about 30 seconds for a CM backstage to get from HM to IASW.

It's all a matter of the resolution of the photos. Whoever took the arial photos (or hi-res satellite photos) chose that line (for whatever reason) as the southernmost tip of their highest-resolution area. You'll notice that all of AK and MGM are also of the same craptacular quality. By the way -- ditto for googleearth.

has anyone seen a track layover with splash mountain...similar to the ones for the haunted mansion and such? i have seen those animations that luke makes for the ride systems and they are great...anything for splash?

Windows Live Local does the same by going into a relatively visible black and white. But it's much better than what Google Earth/Maps do. It might not be perfect, but it is visible and legible to a high extent...

There is a local Orlando (?) service that has hi res images of the entire property; the link was here recently. Anyone remember?

I believe Luke has Splash Mountain on his "to do list."

Here's one that was lifted from another site...

Not a high-quality architectural drawing, but the rough idea.

Helping Out

Most people don't realize a special feature on Window's Live Local. When looking ant a satalite picture if the yellow box titled "Bird's Eye View Available" is shown, then click it and you will get a picture taken from a helicopter over the park. This is hard to achomplish at MK but here is what you need to do, go a little bit northwest of the park around the bridge going over the moat like river. From there you can click Bird's Eye View and turn the camera to the south (by clicking the the S on the compass). From there you may look aroung MK from the East (E on compass), S (S on compass), or West (W on compass). You click one of the other eight boxes in the top once you have gotten this far to look around. This is only needed in MK. In Epcot, MGM, and AK, all you need to do is click Bird's Eye View. Side note: In AK Expedition Everest is still being constucted (Early 2005). The Bird's Eye View is not in Black and White.
