What's a see saw doing in a graveyard in the first place? 🤣
LOL - you probably weren't asking seriously, but just in case: it's a makeshift see-saw, a plank upon which a king and queen are (per the Readalong record I had as a kid and still have practically memorized!) "teetering on a gravestone." It's here at roughly the 5:30 mark:

It was one of my favorite images from the book, and one of the things I was most excited to spot in the graveyard when I first visited WDW around age 8. :) I do hope every Haunted Mansion lover will check out that little record/book linked above at some point, because it explains a few things guests sometimes misinterpret about the attraction, such as what's happening when you go out the attic window and descend into the graveyard (not leaping to your death, as I've heard many guests inform their companions in hushed whispers, but escaping the attic by climbing out the window onto a balcony, and then down a tree). Of course, at the end of the day, the Haunted Mansion story is whatever each guest imagines and wants it to be, but even as a kid, I guess I was a stickler for interpreting things based on the source material!

I'm excited about the Hatbox ghost addition, but sorry it doesn't look like it will be making an appearance when we visit next week! It may be years before we get back, at which time we'll probably be looking at a B-mode version, "Disco Hatbox Ghost." ;)

Reopening from refurbishment delayed at the Haunted Mansion

Good news. Hopefully this means they noticed some more things they wanted to clean or fix so that the ride is better. In the grand scheme of things another day isnt a big thing unless this was your only day on your vacation that you could ride it. But I for one would rather them close it as long as needed to make it as good as possible (we know it wont be perfect or any huge changes, as its not enough time).

Unless they broke something and its like the people mover or disneyland SW extended closure.

They're replacing the boarding conveyor belt, so yeah. Not very exciting. Just the means to allow you to board the doom buggie.
Surprised they wouldn't leave it broken and make you catch up with the buggies in betterment of guest's waistlines

Like mine? Yeah, I could use the extra exercise. Let's just say I'm being proactive about losing some pounds before a Disney cruise in October.

It would be a big deal if it's not open for the first Halloween party tomorrow.

Given how many times HM was "temporarily closed" last week when we were there, and how many times it stopped while we were riding, I'm glad they are fixing the conveyor belt.

Mostly the ride stops to allow for guests who need extra time boarding. Guests have a tendency to mistake this for the ride "breaking down", but that ride system is actually pretty darn reliable for being 50+ years old.

I'm aware, thanks. It was definitely more than the usual slow down/temp stop to allow guests extra time to board.
