Haters Be Hatin?

friends with kids think its a great idea but friends without kids think it's a waste of money.
I ignore the haters and carry on with my plans on Disney trips. The same haters always want to see pictures and know all about the trip. Maybe they hate'in just to make themselves feel better for not making the plans and saving for their own trip there.

Nope. We just go and we don't tell anyone. Sometimes we are back home, and no one knew we left...:) We usually talk on the phone to our family, so they wouldn't know if we were in Florida or across town.

I guess I am lucky that my family get's why I go. They know my love, ok obsession, with Disney. Yet at the same time I've only been lucky enough to go once and then the next trip is 4 years after the first. I am sure if we lived closer I would be there so much more often. But as it is we go when we can. Right now Dear Hubby wants to get the house paid off so we can start going more frequently. And I've always been one who has said I won't go in major debt just to go on vacation any where, not just WDW. We will be doing small weekend trips but over all saving up for 2015. My in-laws have been to WDW and DL multiple times so they get why I go. Though they do joke about how I can give off Disney info and yet can't remember where I left my car keys.:)

I fib about where im going to my employees because that starts up all the money comments. Now I just say I'm going to (insert random name of beach resort here) and they are fine. The kicker is, until five or six years ago we took zero vacations..... literally!!! My wife and I went on a cruise and wdw honeymoon twenty one years ago and that was it. All those years and five kids later we finally got our business going to the point where we could take our kids on vacation. I knew after we went the first time and seeing the reaction of my kids that we would be going every year.

I've been lucky enough to avoid snarky comments. However, in 2008, my Dad kept saying "I wish I could go." He could have if he hadn't had an affair and married his mistress and lived with her and her two kids. My parents are divorced.

Family? No. They thought I went to Florida too much and thought I was crazy to move here. "It's so hot! Why would you want to LIVE there?!" (Because it isn't cold.)

Because in January you are in shorts while they are shoveling snow. I have a pic of myself out on my boat anchored in shallow water, where you see that type of ocean that you see in post cards in the background. I like to tease my northern relatives with it every time they are shoveling out of a nor'easter.

I tell them that they don't know how to go to Disney. The only ones that say anything are my parents. They say we go to much. As a kid we went once a year. We'll go 2-3 depending on how well my business went throughout the year. They are long weekend trips but still. We stay at value resorts, we eat quick service meals and we'll take snacks and stuff with us too.

We have this problem especially since my MIL almost wont talk to us anymore becuase of it!!! See when we lived in fl we had annual passes and my mom would take us (my hubby and my first daughter) to disney a few times a year even if she couldn't go she'd pay for our hotel.. as for food until dining came out we'd do two big dinings (liberty and chef mickey's ) then bring snacks/share etc the rest. we really really made it cheap to go. My MIL espcially used to complain all the time even when she went for our wedding she bought our nices/nephews toys and wouldnt buy our two year old duaghter one becuase she goes to disney all the time and has everything...

Once we moved to TX we have been several times and are getting grief!! we went in like 2009 for Christmas! This was our family christams gift we asked everyone to just give us money and saved and saved and went :) Then we went to Disneyland in CA in 2011... we had not planned on it.. but my daughter is a competitive gymanst and well she had a meet there how could we resist.. we used some of our income taxes but only stayed in disney like 3 ays. Then we went to WDW last year again not planned but she had a meet there since it was jan we again just used our christmas money . Then this year we are going thi summer. we have been budgeting and planning and paying on it for like 9 months..

My MIL is mad because she thinks we spend too much money on disney and it isnt fair her other daughters kids have only been once (for our wedding...) etc.. I get tired of it... We budget plan and try to make it as cost effective as possible!!! ughhh sorry for the ven thtis is just a sore spot for me!!

This is crazy! Why is it your problem that her other grandchildren don't get to go as often?

Stuff like this makes me glad I am an only child sometimes LOL
