My family loves WDW as much as myself but do not go due to financial constraints, so they hate on me for going without them. I'm an accountant at a CPA firm. They don't do "theme parks." They take trips to Scottsdale, Europe and Hawaii so I'm almost looked at like a carny...LOL.

The President of our company did Disney once the year after I first took the kid back (after looking at pictures, and he figured his kids were the "right age"). He is also the "snobby vacationer". I don't fault him, but he picks on my trips, in a good natured way of course. But, for example, when I informed him I was going on the cruise with the kiddo, he said "Let me guess...Disney". I confirmed. "Yeah, you like stuff like that."

But, I should note, the reason he doesn't like Disney is because it's "too expensive". Well, no crud!

When he went he got the Premium dining plan (the only person I've EVER known to get one), paid for the Disney Personalized Tour Guide (that comes with all day fast passes) and stayed at a suite in Grand Floridian.

His 5 day vacation in January cost more than 4 times my 14 day trips in August. Dude, OF COURSE it was expensive!

Ah yes, the person that has to one-up everyone....even at WDW. You know, he probably had to get the personalized tour because with all that table service dining he had, there wouldn't have been much time left over for the parks.

Even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend it on all that stuff! Well, maybe the suite at the GF...

Well...to be fair it IS expensive. If they point that out then they are stating the obvious. I have gotten unwarranted smarminess for other reasons pertaining to my WDW excursions from friends that just don't get it but if they point out "expensive" I've pretty much got no retort.

My brother's wife always says something about how we are going "again". Then she says that she can't afford it. My brother makes $30,000/year more then my hubby, they can afford it. But she does not work and spends all of their money on clothes and coach purses and going out to the bars with her friends. I on the other hand work when my kids are in school for my vacation money and I buy our clothes at walmart or kohls. I also stay at home most weekends and every once in a while my hubby and I will see a movie if grandma has the kids. So we all choose to spend our money in different ways.

I had a professor in college who told a story to the class one day about how they didn't have cable at home (this was in the mid 90s, to date myself)...and whenever her kids would complain, she'd say to them "Well, which would you rather do? Watch MTV or go to Disney?"

Exactly. It's easy for someone to point to a vacation and total up in their head the costs of everything and think expensive, a lot harder for someone to look at how someone usually eats, drinks, wears every week and total up what the costs of all that was.
Also I have done the costs in my head, and a week at a shore house in the northeast, where you have to bring your own linens, drive more, still pay for meals and entertainment is not that much less that Disney and easily more if you get a place actually on the beach!

Funny...in a sad sort of way...but I got something along these lines recently. Usually, it's just the "again" and "but it's so expensive?!?!?!" but this person picked on our dining, lodging, and touring...in a good natured way...she really thought she was helping...but it was just snobbery the way I took it. Like my DH might go from "like" to "LOVE" @WDW if I only booked signature meals, had a nanny or willing relative take my children to non-signature meals (like character meals), hire a tour guide for at least one of our days, and bump up to a suite or something of that nature at one of the monorail resorts since a regular deluxe resort room is really not enough. I have to let it go b/c she really didn't mean anything by it, but it bugs me.
