So some of you may know we got back a few weeks ago, i posted our trip report, fun time was had by all... it was the best vacation i have ever gone on. However we don't plan on going back again for another 3 years or so. We live in Jersey so we are not close and can't just go for a day or a weekend. Disney is our ultimate vaction for sure. We do plan on having another baby soon though, and since our first born just went, we don't want to take her right back too soon.

I know it seems like many people on the boards either live close, or get to go 1 time a year. But does anyone ever go that far apart? Say 3-4 years? How in the world am i supposed to pass that kind of time? What kinds of things do you do? We'll probably hit the Disney store i'm sure, watch the movies, watch our video footage, and i'm going to participate in these forums as much as i can. But man......it just seems like it'll never get here!

When I was younger i used to live in the Uk and we would go every 2 to 3 years, so it nothing new, however the years we did go we would try and go twice within twelve months and buy annual passes, its amazing, how much money you can save by doing this as you basically only pay for the tickets once and get parking free. we usually would stay on disney for one trip and in a villa for the other, though some of our first trips were offsite. (my first time to disneyworld was in 1994, but i didn't stay onsite till 1999. For a family of 4 buying annual passes and going twice within a year we could save approx $2000 on our second trip, as it was paid for in the first trip.

FYI, we live in NJ, close to Philadelphia, and have taken some 4 day weekend trips; be sure to track the airfare deals on Southwest and Airtran and the room deals on MouseSavers.

Now our youngest is almost 7yo, so that helps.....

Our first 3 trips to the World were 3 years apart - it is harder to save up for a trip of that magnitude when your kids are younger, you're dealing with your first mortgage. But after an 8 year drought, I've been fortunate enough to be able to go every year for the last 3 years, I have a solo trip booked for December, and am planning on hitting DLP in April. 30 years of marriage and working for the same employer makes a big difference in the amount of disposable income I am able to put away for my Disney habit. God has truly blessed our family in that money isn't quite the issue as it was when we were just starting out.

I totally feel your pain! My husband and I just got back from a glorious 10 day stay and I have no clue when we will ever be able to go back. We just bought a house a few months ago, so right now my husbands top priority is the mortgage. I would gladly eat mac & cheese for the next year just to save for another Disney trip! :p

We are also hoping to start a family soon so with pregnancy and (hopefully) an infant right around the corner, Disney seems further away then ever! My husband thinks anyone who takes a child under the age of 4 to Disney is crazy. My job for the next few years is to change his mind on that one!

There were two years in between my first and second trips but then I waited a long 7 years before I was able to go back to the World. When I finally drove thru that precious sign I cried my eyes out! We were able to go twice that year so it made up for it a little bit but I know how you feel I really did not think we were going to make it this year and we are almost there. After that though, I wonder as the kids are getting older now and it is harder to miss school. We have no definite plans of when we will go back like we have the last two. I want to rock this one just in case! ;)

I understand completely. When DS & DD were young, we made sure we went usually every two years. One year were fortunate to visit in June and again in July, DS wrestled in Disney Duals and DD had national softball tourney there. Now that they are out of school DH and & spent 10 days in August for our 25th anniversary and swore to each other would make it a point to come back once a year or more if we could. Lo and behold now planning 2 weddings 5/10 and 10/11. DS wedding 5/10 won't be too expensive for us, therefore already booked 6/9/10-6/16/10 to celebrate DH birthday. HOWEVER, DD wedding will cost us a pretty penny ( did offer to pay for a Disney honeymoon if they would elope instead ), so after 6/10 won't be able to get back until 2012. Oh well, I will live vicariously through all of you if necessary to get my fix!!:ROFLOL::):ROFLOL:

Well DisneyDreamer, it obviously depends on the child and the parents... but you can tell your husband straight from someone who just did it 2 weeks ago......... We went with our 15 month old and had the time of our lives. She understood the characters and recognized them from TV. We took naps when needed, took time out to eat snacks and cool down. You can't go commando style, but you can go with a young one and have a great time. All of the parks have baby care centers as well. Best of luck with the family! I'm glad you can feel my pain!

I'm from Nova Scotia and usually go every two years - pretty much consistantly since 1975 - with a few years missed and sometimes once a year.

My last visit was good because it was just my sister, niece and I but I want to do a trip with just my girlfriends, another trip with my boyfriend and maybe another couple with us or even a solo trip so I can chill at my own pace and just take photos.

However, I just lost my job this week and right now I don't know how I'm going to pay bills next month let alone plan another trip so right now for me, this is definitely the furthest I've been from getting to go to WDW again. I'm focused on job hunting not trip planning.

Well you certainly have bigger fish to fry right now and I wish you the best of luck with the job hunting and getting back to the World!

Sorry to hear that:( Hope you can find another job soon enough.

We usually go every two years for Christmas. We live in PR and it can be upwards of 5k every trip because we like to stay between 12-14 days.

Next trip is planned for Dec 2010 and we will maybe shorten this one to 8-10 days because of the economy being so bad and all.

We normally stay in touch using these boards, watching videos and pictures of our past trips and my wife is always checking airline ticket prices just to pass the time and keep the dream alive until next trip arrives.

We would go every year, except I've also lost my job and have returned to school. The longest I've been away from wdw in the last 19 years has been 18 months and that was hard to deal with, so I have a hard time dealing with that from time to time.

Tigger - good luck on the job front.

Being from Canada as well, until recently we've had the poor exchange rates weighing in over everything as well. Today an almost par dollar makes it easier to go compared with a few short years ago when it was pretty much 50 cents on the dollar for us up here. We've been able to take advantage of frequent-flier points and favourable dollar values to put together 2 trips in 3 years. We leave in 39 days and cannot wait! Hopefully we'll be able to put together another trip in 3-4 years.

I live in Brazil...so you can imagine.

I stayed almost 8 years without going to WDW. Now I went in nov/07, april/09 and will be going in jan/10. My DH said that doesn't want to go for a long time (blasphemy). Since we will try another baby I guess I'll have to wait a couple of years to go again.

I live in Brazil too and I have no idea when I am going back. It has been almost nine months since my CP ended and I miss that place so much.

I guess I should finish College, find a job and pass through those gates once again. Hopefully it won't take too long. :(

We too just returned from our trip to the World and I was immediately trying to figure out when my next trip would be. My better half and I are not able to afford more than one trip per year and we feel immensely blessed to even have that considering the economy. I am the Disney freak in the family and would gladly go every year, but he prefers to experience other places. So, typically I don't get to Disney more than once every 4-5 years.

Interestingly, I just received my first ever room discount email last week, so my mom and I are planning a girls trip in March. This will be the first (and probably only) time I have ever had the chance to go to Disney twice within a 12 month period.

For those times when I am counting years instead of months before my next trip, I simply try to focus on all the other things that make my life so wonderful.
