A query.. because I don't recall..

July 3rd (today) MK will close at 1am for regular guests, but close at 4am for resort guests.

Has it stayed open that late before that anyone remembers?

July 4th, it opens at 7am for resort guests with EMH.

With park clear taking an hour or so, why bother closing?

Literally, the park will be closed for 3 hours, probably only clear of guests for an hour.

PS: I will be there (driving over to check-in at the resort in a few hours) and i'm tempted to ask if i can hang out for the gap.

I agree, they should just keep it open. I think tonight is the night for someone to try and just sleep over in MK. It would be easy. Heck, i wanna try. Too bad i got back a week ago.

Yes, it has been open, Not only including two grad nites... but also last Christmas/New Years week they did park open til 1 am, with EMH until 4 am

I believe they are required to have the 3 hour gap in order to conduct required daily safety checks.

Also, just for information ... DSL in the 60s stayed open until 1:00 am as a normal weekend schedule. They were closed on Mondays (and Tuesdays in the 50s) though.

I have been at MK for EMH before at 3AM, and it is quite empty. The park really starts to empty out about 1AM or so.

I was also at MK at 4AM for Grad Nite. People could not leave Grad Nite until 3AM. Right at 3AM, the crowd size reduced greatly. The lines had been short all evening, but got even shorter then.

If you can stay up until park closing in the early morning, you will have almost no waits for the rides (like a few times on Splash, they have just let me stay on and go again, not even getting out).

PS: I will be there (driving over to check-in at the resort in a few hours) and i'm tempted to ask if i can hang out for the gap.

I am doubting that Disney will say OK to this. It would be awesome if they did, but they require that the park be completely empty of all guests before they do work. (CMs explained this before grad nite- as they had to wait for each section of the park to clear before setting up for the event. They were still setting up when we entered the park, though. They did manage to clear all of MK within about 30-60 minutes.)

There was a time when I could have lasted until 4am then been ready to head back at 7am. That time was LONG ago. I'm sure it is great for the younger crowd. Now that I am approaching 40, I desperately need my sleep.....LOTS of it. So I will not be out that late anywhere.

But anyway, Mousemerf, Have fun!!!:)

That three hours is Def. needed. It shouldn't take more than an hour to clear out guests late at night. And there are a lot of things that CMs need to do before opening, even at the Outdoor Food Stands. I can tell you right now that the Outdoor Foods is running 24/7 no matter what because of how busy it is.

Heck, I'm only approaching 30 and there's no way I could stay up till 4 AM. If I'm up till midnight I'm an awefully grumpy man.
