Got a PIN code lately? They seemed to be flying around pretty regular in the late Spring/early Summer time frame. I haven't noticed alot of posters talking PIN codes in a while though. I got 2 this year but neither was very much of a discount and they didn't work out date wise for when we could go. I'm hoping for another when DW starts trying to fill vacancies in early 2013.

I actually had one the beginning of the year and didn't even know about it until it was too late...30% off rack room rates at select resorts for the year! Unfortunately about the time I found out about it (you had to book your room by some date in February for my PIN) - it was gone. Which kinda sucks because 30% is pretty darn good! This is why I now call every month to see if any PIN codes are associated with my household.

huh? fill the rest of us in, please...what is this PIN you speak of, how it works, how to get one if interested?

PIN codes are randomly sent to people who have acounts on the WDW website or maybe those who are Disney VISA cardholders too. Sometimes they come in the U.S. mail, sometimes via email. No one knows (except Disney) exactly how or why one person gets one and another does not. The code may offer you a room discount or free dining to entice you to book a vacation. When you do recieve a code, you have to book your trip for certain dates (code specific) and book it within a certain time frame.

A PIN code is something that Disney will send you in either an email or a letter offering your household a special offer not available to the general public at that time. It could be a room discount, free dining or something of that sort. We used to receive them here and there, and have been able to utilize them about every other trip.

Now that we have been DVC members, I do not think that I have seen one at all. There may be a rhyme or reason for that, being that we will not need to be persuaded by specials to come back as often.

However, My in laws did go last Sept. and did have one that they did not even know about. When I called to help set up their reservation, the operator checked for me when I asked if there were any specials or discounts going on at the time that I did not know about, and they said that they had a "Discount Code" available to them for 40% off of the Boardwalk Inn. I have never heard of a PIN being valid for a specific resort before, but it did convince them to stay at the BW instead of Pop, for only a couple hundred dollars more.

Like I said though, I have never heard of a PIN being offered for one specific resort before. I have been wrong two other times before. It may have just been that the room occupancy was low at that time, and they were trying to fill it. I made the reservation four days before they checked in, so it may have been more of a spur of the moment thing.

I guess, based on this logic, would be why I've never heard of it. Florida resident with AP... I still stay at the resorts from time to time just for the experience, but I have never seen a "bounce back" or a PIN that others talk about. Does make sense that Florida residents received Florida Resident discounts and wouldn't receive other discount type offers.

Thanks for the info, friends.

Based on the info above. I can almost guarantee you that is the case. They keep meticulous track of your email, home address and phone number. Which is tied to your AP. You are already a "Captive Audience." But, being an AP holder, you can probably receive room discounts equal to or better than most PIN numbers anyway. Do they offer those discounts to FLA AP holders?

No, we haven't gotten one in a year or so. For awhile, we were getting several a year. Not sure why it stopped - its totally random.

They do offer FL Res discounts on hotels but there's only a handful of rooms available at a time and usually only during off peak season it seems, so once those rooms fill, there are no more rooms available at that rate. The AP gives a discount on the economy hotels, at least I've never seen discounts advertised for anything other than the economy resorts. The rates are pretty good when you can get them. If you want a FL Res discount for a delux resort, you have to make your reservation as soon as the block opens up. I've stayed at Wilderness Lodge Resort for a week in August once for the same price I paid for a single night at same resort in March.

We need time for things to happen.
I luckily get these on a regular basis. However I haven't seen one is a long time. I also have not been roaming the WDW website.
However yesterday I looked in my email and low and behold a 30% discount for select dates.

Reason? A couple o' weeks back I was poking around pricing some random "dream" trips trips and saving them on WDW website.
I know people say it's random, but for me it always coincides with my activity on the World's website.
