Also, dessert is now included in the plan for the counter-service meals. I'll add that as well.

Hey Len! What's this about dessert being added to the counter service meal? Is that something disney added recently? And I do appreciate all comments on this thread - it is neat to see how different people perceive things and it helps me look at every angle. My personal take on driving is I just don't wanna! I like to park and not see my car till vacation is over!

The dessert has been included on the counter service meals from the beginning. It simply was not always mentioned on all unofficial sites and sources. From the Official Sources, it was always included since the information was announced on 12/2/04. The only changes made to the Magic Your Way Package Plus Dinning is a corrected list of participating locations. The original list was available only to travel agents as an example and was clearly marked subject to change. Even this change was made before the list was officially released to the general public and over a week before the packages were available to be booked.

Hope this answers your questions! :sohappy:

do you think its worth it even thought you aren't saving money on the hotel?

Well, it is figured that the average family will save up to 30% on meals with this plan. How, what and where your family eats will determine how much you will save. You need to factor in what savings will be greater, the meal savings or the room savings. Depending on the discount offer, in most cases the room savings will be greater. However, if a discounted room is not available for the dates you wish to visit, you could still book this package and save on your meals. Also, always ask if the discout offer you asking for applies to vacation packages. Many do, and you can save both ways!

I noticed the Toluca Legs Turkey Co. (MGM Studios) is listed as a participant in the MYW Dining plan. The obvious question is this - are turkey legs considered as a 'snack?' Or is 'snack' just limited to ice cream, drink, or popcorn? It wouldn't be a problem if they aren't included; just another point of convenience.

Thanks,

Kyle

Turkey legs are not a snack. Nor are any food items at the restaurants except: popcorn, ice cream, soda, and water. I just got my package literature today :slurp:

In a phrase...DON'T DO IT !

Just returned from a week at WDW. I bought into the dining plan because it sounded like a good deal. The problem isn't with the math but with its execution. Disney obvoiusly did not think this plan out before launching it a few months ago. It was one big pain in the mouse ears to use this system. When you mentioned the plan many places just look at you with a blank stare. At some places you were left on your own to figure out what was on the plan and what wasn't. Just to buy three boxes of popcorn was an ordeal. The vendors have to ring up your order individually and with 30 people behind you in line, no one appreciated it. Lest of all the poor girl behind the popcorn stand. Keeping track of your purchases was not always easy. Again, the snack portion receipt would not keep a running total of your tally. The bottom line is this...when your hot, tired and hungry the last thing you want to do is to decifer a dining plan gone horrible wrong. This is one ride that I'll never go on again!!

Do you think these are issues that will be worked out as the CM's get used to the new plan? How was the plan otherwise? Did you get to eat where and what you wanted? Did you get your monies worth? I hope you at least broke even!

Not to get off topic here, but I thought I'd chime in here. You're estimation that a car is equally efficient to Disney Transportation is way off here. I've saved an upwards of 30 minutes by driving to the parks rather than waiting for the bus. The amount of time you walk from the parking lot to the gate is the same time that you'd use walking from the bus stop to the park gate, and finding a spot hardly takes anything more than half a minute. And bus arrival can take anywhere from 20-30 minutes (also factor in if you're staying at a hotel like the CBR or PO, that there are multiple stops which adds an extra 10-15 minutes to your ride).

Just to clearify..

Disney Transportation is not as slow as some may lead you to believe. Busses arrive about every 15 to 20 minutes to any bus stop. Factor in the time it would take for you to walk through the parking lot to get to your car, drive from one resort or Park to another, find a new parking place, and then walk through that parking lot to your desination, and it will take about the same length of time as hopping on a bus.

Well I don't think that we will be buying the ap dining card option. We aren't doing the myw package as we are using the ap discount on the room and getting one last trip out of these passes (total of over 30 days on one pass, not too bad for a family from Illinois!).

Also, this past trip, mymother, my husband and I & our daughters used the bus from the resort. My sister and her family and my brother and his family drove their cars..they were going to meet us inside MK. We all left the rooms at the same time. We went to the bus area and waited for our bus to get us to MK. They went to their cars and drove to MK. Long story short, we wereinside the MK for over an hour before they arrived. they had problems w/monorail, so they went for the ferryboat, had to wait for the boat to fill, then headed over. so it can be quicker using disney transport, or it can be easier for some to do their own driving it just depends on how things are going that particular day...crowd wise, weather wise etc...lots to factor in.

Driving your car from resort to resort is much shorter, but driving to MK is longer and that is the one time I use the disney transportation from the hotel. I like having my own car so that if we decide to have breakfast at Boatwright's or dinner at some other hotel, we can just pop over. I don't want to be changing buses and waiting, I do enough of that every day going to work.

The nicest thing about the dining plan is that Tax and tip are included. So when you sit down to your table service meal, you don't have to sit there and figure out how much tip to give. It is already included in the package. HOW NICE!

What about DVC?

Hi all-
Thought I would jump in on this thread... so I understand that the Magic Your Way Plus Dining is available on Magic Your Way Packages. But what I don't get is that word "Packages". We'll be staying on a Disney Vacation Club stay at the Beach Club. We'll be buying Magic Your Way park tickets. Does that mean that it's suddenly a package and we will be able to buy into the Dining option by simply adding it to our tickets? Or does this work some other way? Anyone? :lookaroun

The dining option is available to those staying at a Disney deluxe, moderate or value resort, not vacation club owners. DVC owners can opt for the DDE card (cost: $50, but gets you a 20% discount on meals)

One thing to remember about Dining Plans versus Dining Experience... Dining plans include tax and gratuity. Dining Experience does not... although Dining Experience includes 20% discount on all beverages, while the Dining plan does not include any alcoholic beverages. Either way you come pretty close to being the same. It all depends on how much effort you want to put in and how much food you want to eat.

were about 20 days away from our trip, Do they send you a card to use for dining. We purchased the dining plan for our 8 days? or do the "points" just dump onto your room/park entrance card?

Thanks

Well, it seems a little more magic than that, but I guess, technically, yes, they just dump onto your room/park entrance card.

You will get them when you check in.
