has anyone had trouble booking a resort?

I am trying to plan a trip for Jan 16 - 25 in a value or moderate resort and am being told there are only available rooms in the deluxe resorts, both on the phone and online. Has anyone else had this trouble? Or does anyone have any suggestions? For the first time we may not stay in a Disney resort.

Dont give up and keep checking back. If you an AP holder or FL resident the rates for AKL and WL are less than 150 a nite; about the normal rate for a moderate. Good Luck

what I don't understand is that they are reducing hours and claiming bookings are down yet I keep hearing people are having trouble finding rooms in January. Something doesn't add up--Jan. is the off season (though I understand MLK weekend is in there).

Try dividing the vacation into smaller stays. Sometimes if there is no vacancy for one of the days of your trip then you will get the "no rooms available" message. You might have to switch resorts in the middle of your stay. I know last August when I booked our December trip, we couldn't get a reservation at Coronado Springs for the first day of our trip (they said the only moderate or value room open was at All Star Sports:hurl:). I called a few weeks later and got an adjustment to our main reservation (and cancelled ASSports).

I normally book our rooms at least almost a year in advance to avoid problems later. I would continue to check because there will probably be some people who might cancel or change their reservations. Checking on Expedia I only see Walt Disney Dolphin & Swan Resort.

I just looked online and during your dates for 2 adult and children 1 & 5 (don't know your family size) I got Caribbean Beach being available.

I'm trying to book for your dates. POR is available,POFQ is available, FW cabins are available, Cari. Beach is available, suites at Corondado are available, Pop is NOT available, AS Sports is NOT available, AS Movies is not available, and AS Music is not available. I did all of this online using just 1 adult in the party.

i am trying to book for 2 adults, 3 children, ages 9, 8, and 2.
the disney reservation line did divide up my dates and still could not find a available room, and POR and POFQ were not available either, i will try them again. this would be the 3rd time we vacationed in disney during this week and it is a very slow time so i cannot understand how they are booked, it is very discouraging.

Yes same issue. Looks like there system is getting worse and worse. I also found out some of the people you talk to do not actually work at Disney, they are contracted out. You can easily know by there attitude.

The 17th and 18th is probably causing your problem. Try again using the 19th to the 25th or maybe the 24th.
You will find some values available, then book the rest at whatever they have, will save you some money.

I keep getting the only resort available is the cari. beach which we are not really interested in.
it is hard to change dates around since we are taking the kids out of school.

Otter I've been playing with your dates. Are you looking for the buy 4 get 3 package (plus a few days), or room only?

You're right I do see Caribean available for your exact dates, but no other moderates or values. I know it's hard to switch around your dates with the kids school, but the 19th-26th has a few more options.

Give me a call or email if I can help!:)

I've tried booking rooms for myself and my family from Dec 24 - Jan 4 (less than 4 weeks left!) and we couldn't get one room for all 10/11 nights. We ended up searching night by night to find openings and luckily a few popped up that were 3 or 4 nights in a row. We ended up making a total of 6 reservations at 3 different resorts (CSR, SSR, ASSp).

Looks like Martin Luther King Jr day is what's causing your problems. It's usually the third Monday in January and that is January 19, 2009, which falls right in the middle of the dates you are looking at. We got a pin code for 40% during select weeks of 2009 and that week you are looking at is the one week in January that is blacked out for the pin code.
