I apologize if this has been brought up before, but during my last trip in June while I was at DHS in Pixar Place I was waiting in line for waters and I saw a woman grab a handful of ice out of the top of the big case they put the waters/sodas in and put it into her fan/spray bottle. She did it three more times for her daughters spray bottles too and everyone just kind of looked at her wierd. The CM didn't see her do it, she was technically stealing ice! I thought it was kind of strange. :veryconfu

That's really unsanitary of her, not to mention how unsanitary that ice already is!

That was my first thought.......not that she was stealing it, but how disgusting that is! That ice is not meant to consume.....yuck...

However, about the stealing part- this past Sunday we were in Goofy's Confections or whatever the candy shop in Downtown Disney is called and at the rack with about 100 different loose jelly bellies, etc., two girls were just opening their shopping bags and dropping candy in.......

So tacky.......

Why would anyone care either way. I don't notice irrelevant things like this when I'm on vacation, but that's just me. :D

Hmmm, was she part of a tour group? I think we need to explore that angle ... along with her ethnicity before we can thoughtlessly reply. :D

Seriously, tacky and gross.

Nice... maybe we can work this into every thread!!!:ROFLOL:

I really couldn't care less if someone else chose to fill their spray or drinking bottles up in Bay Lake. :D

What? You mean minding your own business? That might spoil the self satisfied condescension. That is so tacky!

You're welcome to add ice for free at any booth to your spray bottle fan that they sell - they even tell you this when you buy one - but you're NOT supposed to use that ice for drinking or consumption. It's not handled properly for food safety regulations.

I did not know that about being able to use the ice for your fans. Certainly wouldn't eat it for sure.:hurl:

I don't use the spray bottles, but I doubt the water is as dirty as the rain we allow to drench us at the parks. Not to mention the water on KRR or SM.

I've used the ice from the vendors (I've always asked first) to fill my spray bottle... it's never been a problem. I would never put it in a drink but what's the big deal about spraying it on your face (unless you spray with your mouth wide open)!?!

It's VERY common for people to take ice from those fan / drink carts. Some would ask, some will not, some will steal the batteries from the fans. I tried to warn people not to eat it, but some do anyway. It's not really a big deal if they want to use it for the spray bottles, because we would fill those bottles with that ice. Though sometimes people do spray into their mouth, and I would just be thinking ewwww :zipit:

Some will pull the fan out and say "it doesn't work!" not knowing there is a plastic tab to pull out, throw it back in, find another one, play with it for ten seconds, throw it back in, creating a mess in the process.

I personally would not use the nasty ice. However I am curious if those who are so repulsed by it, sterilize the outside of their bottled beverages after they purchase them from the carts. Also, how many people carry hand sanitizer to kill the germs on all of the rides that are carry thousands of people in various stages of hygiene all day long. If you really think about the germ factor…. We are all knee deep into them at the parks.

Sterilize, no. But it's SOP for the CMs to wipe down every bottled beverage as they sell it.

This is VERY true and the reason I usually do carry a small hand sanitizer bottle with me in my back pack. They sell them at Bath and Body Works for a buck or two and there are even rubber holders for them for 50 cents that you can attach to your key ring, back pack or belt loops on your pants. I always picture all the little kids grabbing hold of the railings in the lines or the lap bars that pin you in your seats on the rides with snotty hands and that! :hurl: No thanks!!!!
